hi i have been asking around how do i know if the cpu i got is a good overclocker... they told me that if it has a low VID then it will be good for OC...
question is how do i know if i got a low vid?

VID do not chance, it's what your cpu is rated by the manufacturer to run at. Vcore is the voltage it is currently running at.

A q6600, I believe has a vid range of 1.2125 to 1.325. Lower is better.

yea, the VID you get on your cpu is all a gamble when you buy it, it isn't stated on the packaging or anything.

the only way you'll find out the VID is either in your bios, the voltage your CPU runs at stock will be your VID, or using a program like CoreTemp will also show you it.

You find out if it's a good OCer by throwing it into a mobo and OCing it. Simple as that.

You can do all the research you want, and find CPU's that are expected to OC well.

But until you actually test that single CPU, you don't know jack about it. Each CPU is its own universe.
