Help! Radeon 6850 not working!!

430V power supply, biostar N68S3+ mobo

An older Radeon 5670 works fine. Card tested in another PC, also works. Tested 2x 6850, can't get 'em going. Any recommendations or knowledge of where my failure is occurring? Will not detect card in device manager.

not sure on that board but have you tried a BIOS update? some boars need one to handle pcie 2.1 cards

bios update is a good idea, I think I used the ordinary drivers CD after install. Keep the ideas coming, trying that one now.

Power supply is rather low. I think the requirement is 450w for the 6850. And I looked up your mobo, it seems to not support crossfire. and make sure your drivers are installed correctly.

im having the same problem man, my psu and gpu are the same. I just ordered a 750w psu so hopefully that will fix my problem, I'll post here if it does. I have found little help on this matter, yet a lot of people having same problem.

Updated the bios, no luck =/ Crossfire support not needed for this build, it's a budget for sure.

Would fan on video card be operating if it were not getting sufficient power?

Oh, did you mean you tried 2 different 6850's at different times? Thought you meant you tried crossfire. The fan would probably not spin if there was a lack of power, or would spin slowly.

It's cruising pretty fast...

Do you just see a black screen? Have you tried using DVI instead of HDMI or vise versa? Have you tried a different monitor?

I have tried the video card in a different computer with all of the above scenarios and all work. This PC will not even show it in device manager.

Yes, my other computer works fine with it. Also an AMD build. 700 watt PSU and a good mobo, though...

Probably a faulty PCI-E slot have you tried putting other cards in it?
