Help with a ps3 choice!

I hopefully will be getting a ps3 160gb model this year for Chirstmas. I don't want the superslim because I don't like the look and I don't like the way the disk drive is set out. Apparently it's no different inside (software). Also it's expensive because it is brand new. I was wondering, is it wise to get the ps3 because I am not sure when the ps4 comes out and I hope it is not in 2013 because I don't want to replace this quickly. What should I do?

The latest news shows a release date of Oct '13, about one year. But rumours are getting thick about earlier release, like May or June. Personally, I expect it to be nearer next Christmas (not based on any facts at all) - I would personally hold off at this point in time. With both the X-box and Playstation getting new system releases around the same time, it should be interesting Christmas season in 2013.
