Hello,
First post, I am hoping you guys can loan me your expertise.
I built a computer a little over a year ago (July 2010), and everything was great. However, about a month ago, everything started stuttering, all the time. Regardless of what I was doing or how intensive I was pushing the computer, I would get a periodic stutter, meaning mouse and keyboard input weren't registered and sound and video skipped. It would come in bursts of varying length, and then be fine for a while, and then start over. Again, this would happen regardless of what I was doing on the computer.
Well, I assumed that Windows had somehow gotten messed up, so I reinstalled. However, that has not solved the problem.
I have very little understanding of BIOS CPU and PSU settings and the like, so everything is set to Auto.
One more wrinkle: I booted off an old live Ubuntu disc (8.04 32-bit) and the computer seemed to be fine. I don't know if it is the 32-bit thing that would cause that, or what.
So, there you have it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
