Help with XP install pls (HDD)

what does it mean while trying to install win XP "an error occured while setup was updateing partition information on: 19093 MB disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 on atapi {MBR} " i have went into fdisk and deleted and created partition, made it active, rebooted, reformatted, and tryed installing and now getting this error, everything was fine, i upgraded my comp today ran into some other probs and had to reinstall win XP, went fine, and now have to reinstall again, (dang cmos settings), but now im getting this error, could it be a HDD gone bad? its a WD caviar 20gig 7200rpm, any help would be great thanks )

the error you mentioned means that the MBR (Master Boot Record)is damaged, mbr contains information about your harddisk i heard it can mayb be repaired by performing a low level format but i dont know how you can do that. mayb you can go back to the store where you bought it.
