Can i conect my laptop harddrive in my desktop comp useing an adapter and
install windows xp on it then put it back in my comp without any trouble

Further explanation, your desktop probably has totally
different chipset and CPU, if you install XP on that it will
use the drivers for the desktop and then when you install
the hard drive back in the laptop it will be a major
hardware change and XP won't boot.

Ask the laptop mfg'r about procedures for installing XP,
they are the best hardware specific source.
