High gain air cards

hi everybody
i've just bought an usb aircard for my laptop with attached a small antenna but
i can't reach my wireless signal from my first floor.
I'm going to try with another high gain antenna..will be useful?
Or i have to buy another router with much power?

You can buy +10db antenna to increase your power, but the question is:
the signal that you receive is soo far away? there's no aircard capable
to catch a very poor signal..otherwise you can try yourself to build
an antenna:
