Hello,

I recently bought an M.2 480 Pro SSD without a heatsink, and I'm using it with my MSI B660M Mortar motherboard. Since installing this SSD, I’ve noticed a few issues:

  1. High Temperature: In idle, the SSD temperature is between 45-55°C, and under load, it goes up to around 70°C. I’ve seen similar SSDs on YouTube with a max temperature of 50°C under load. My motherboard has a heatsink with thermal paste, but the temperature still seems high. Do you think this temperature is excessive, or am I just being overly cautious? The MSI website mentions a safe temperature up to 80°C, but I’m still concerned.
  2. Increased CPU Usage: Since installing the SSD, I’ve noticed that my CPU usage sometimes spikes to 100% in certain applications. I previously used a Western Digital Green SSD and didn’t experience this issue. Is this normal?
Any insights would be much appreciated!

When you installed the heat sink did you remove the plastic film from the thermal pad?
