Just wondering why hl2 would not work when steams down if i had the
"offline" optains checked.

i thought it wound'nt even know steam was down, does it still check?

Unless you disconnect your PC from the Internet first, or deny Steam access
through a firewall. Then it will offer you offline mode.

Cant comment - I have played the game to completion and am half way
through again and the game has NEVER crashed once. It just works.

So from my perspective - your comment is a tad redundant,

I fail to see how difool and Daniel would be conducting sexual relations due

Doesn't matter anyway, since it doesn't force you to go online after
crashing. If you want to test this out, do the following:

Run the game in offline mode, then use the cheat to get the super
physcannon early. Switch to a map where you have the buggy.
Try to pick up the buggy. That will crash the game 😉
