I have built 3 computers all of which had the thermal tape already on the heatsink. I am now builing another but this time I am using this good stuff (artic silver) supposed to be good. I just want to make sure that I do it correctly. I don't want to f* up my 1.2 tbird. Thank you and its much appreciated.

Its pretty self explanitory once you get all your parts together.

I have used artic silver many times I am on I think probably my 15 tube of it. I build lots of systems on my spare time. This is the best way I find to apply it.

First clean off the cpu and the heat sink with rubbing alchol.

After apply a small circle and spread it out really thinly with a bank card or what ever you have.

Then also I find it is best to apply a think amount over the heatsink where it will make contact with the processor.

Do not use your hand and it will leave oil prints band conductivity. Also make it thin so no chance of air bubles.

Hope that helps

Yeah you can use different stuff like razor blades. Just make sure that there is only a paper thin layer. If there is lots then it will actually insulate the CPU and make it hotter.
