Hi guys, I'm building a fairly powerful pc in part for microsoft flight sim. Looking to keep the budget 1500-1700. Heres what I have so far:

i9-9900k
gigabyte z390 ultra
gigabyte geforce gtx 1070
corsair vengeance LPX 32gb
samsung 970evo 1tb
corsair rm series rm650 gold plus 650 watt
corsair ice H100i 240mm dual 120mm fans liquid cooled
corsair 275R airflow ate mid tower

Is there anything cheaper I can swap in that makes sense with out sacrificing performance? I'm hoping to get 30fps on ultra in slight sim 2020 with in this budget. does anyone have any opinions or advice? are things going to run too hot? or is any one particular component too powerful for the rest? anything at all would be awesome

any advice in changing anything?

And how much is that going to cost you?

What country are you in?

When are you planning to buy the parts or build this?

Do you already have some of these parts or are you planning to buy all these? Buying them new or used?

First, the H100i is not enough for the 9900k really. It is, but it's not. You would be incredibly wise to not go with anything less than a 280mm AIO if you choose an AIO as your preferred method of cooling.

The RM650 is decent, but if you can get an RM650x or RM650i for a few dollars more, which you usually can, those are much better units in terms of quality and performance.

Is that memory going to be a 2x 16GB or 4x 8GB configuration?

Why the GTX 1070? Is it incredibly inexpensive? Are you buying it used from somebody you KNOW very well? If not, then I'd avoid it. If you plan to run any resolution higher than 1080p I'd avoid it as well. The GTX 1070 simply isn't all that great of a performer on newer games, being a four year old card, and it's definitely not well matched with the 9900k. You'll be GPU bound in just about everything you do unless you are running with lower settings at a very high resolution. CPU will definitely be waiting around a lot.

I mean, I agree, but it also depends on the cost of the parts, where you are located and what your intentions or needs are as well. For somebody in the US that's primarily a hard core gamer, this is not the best choice currently, or even a very good choice perhaps. But there are certainly relevant factors that might be involved that make it a good choice for the circumstances and budget, if the budget is extremely reasonable in terms of what these parts cost you.

If you are buying them new, then no, it's absolutely not recommendable.

What mess are u talking about?
The only 'odd' thing about is that you have a really strong cpu with a meh gpu for that cpu,and the 120mm aio
I’ve been told by others that there’s many things to change around that’s the only reason I referred to it as a mess. Thank you tho appreciate the information

heres my version of your build:

I kept the 9900k since its a beast. The mobo is great for it aswell.Kept the ram.I changed the cooler for the cpu to something much better than that 120mm aio, infact its one of the best aio coolers you can get.I changed the graphics card to a 3080 since the 2060 is significantly weaker that 3080 and the 3080 is just a better match for a 9900k.I also changed to powersupply to a stronger unit since 3080 draws way more power than 2060.Thoughts?

Hi guys any advice would be awesome.
I don’t have a cooler picked out at the moment. The gpu is currently hard to find if anyone has any other suggestions on how to get one for a fair price or a possible substitution.

i9-9900k
gigabyte z390 ultra
EVGA geforce rtx 3080 10gb GDDR6X
corsair vengeance LPX 32gb
samsung 970evo 1tb
corsair rm 850w gold plus atx
corsair 275R airflow ate mid tower

Go AMD would be my best advice...
They are currently much MUCH faster than intel, especially last gen intel.
even if you get that 9900k for 300$ it would be slower than the ryzen 5 5600X by a long shot.

As for gpu, literally no substitute exists.
The rx 6800XT is similar, but in my opinion is just not as good.
50$ less, with 2-3% performance worse, and no DLSS, and very bad ray tracing.

Also, it's just as hard to find.

I like how that looks. I just starting learning about all of this only a few weeks ago. I appreciate knowledge like this, things make much more sense when you can ask questions. Any chance there’s another option for the gpu that’s slightly cheaper or is that the one to get?

3070- retails for 500$ and it is 10% slower than the 3080. 3070 is the card that you wanna buy if you game on 1440p,in some games even 4k.It is a really good card,i suggest you buy it,that is if it is in stock. It would be a good pair with your 9900k

Here is what my set up will look like
i9-9900k
Gigabyte z390 aorus ultra
Corsair vengeance lpx 32gb
Samsung 970evo 1tb
Evga GeForce rtx 3070 xc3 black
Corsair rm 2019 850w gold plus
Corsair 275r airflow atx mid
Icue h150i pro liquid cooler

is it worth it to spend the extra money on the motherboard because I have a powerful gpu and cpu or should I just save and go with the 190$ version of the z390, called the pro. The other version is the ultra which costs 250$

I would get the newer 10700K and a decent Z490 board.
