How far to take a 965?

I have a CM Hyper 212+ and I want to minorly overclock my cpu, how far should I go? Don't wnat anything past maybe 4.0. And wheres a good guide on overclocking? I don't really mind about the lifespan I just want the chip to last longer than maybe a year (have an am3+ mobo)

4.0 is do able with a 965 BE depending on the chip. 4.0 is where i hit the "wall" but i have seen higher

It really depends on your cooling and I see you have a CMH212+, some get better results with that cooler than others do, I wish I could tell you exactly why, but I just don't know, performance wise it is what it is.

You should be able to run 4.0ghz with your cooler, I had eventually changed my CMH212+ to a Thermalright 120 Extreme, I'm not saying for you to do that, as you may very well have one of the better CMH212+ in your possession, you'll just have to go for it, and see how far you can get.

By the way I had my 965BE to 4.2 stable, but not with the CMH212+, with the Thermalright.
