How fast is Intel Pentium Dual-Core E2180?

I can't decide what CPU to buy (either AMD X2 4000+/4400+ or Intel E2180), and it's too bad Intel E2180 is not included in the CPU Charts 2007. Does anyone know what other CPUs it can be compared to, without overclocking?

Judging by how close the E2160 and X2 4200+ are in that review (virtually a tie), I would say the E2180 would be slightly faster than the X2 4200+, by 5 - 10% on average.

The E2180 should also be roughly equal to E4300/E6300 levels of performance, I'm not sure if they are on the CPU Charts, if so you can use them as a rough guide for comparison.

However, there is really no reason to run the E2180 at stock.
If nothing else, I would at the very very least increase the FSB to the Core2Duo std of 533. This would give a serious boost in performance and still let the thing run ice cold.

Almost 70% boost with stock cooler is impressive, maybe I should even go for e2200, I hope it won't be too expensive.

I have the e2180 in my ASUS P5K SE (P35). Had it overclocked to 3.3GHZ in less then 5 minutes. It will boot at 3.8 but it starts to get hot at 3.8. I am using the stock heatsink.

Like another poster said; theres no reason not to overclock it. I never overclocked ever before and it was a breeze. If you dont want to change the BIOS just grab the ASUS P5K SE and use the Overclock utility to cange the FSB to 330 and the PCI to 100 while leaving the other settingsa on auto. Put the VCORE to 1.425 in the bios first to reach 3.3.

OOOOPS forgot to mention this thing is FAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSTT!!!!!!!! Real big difference from stock to 3.3.

At 3.3 it scores 5.7 in vista index while my $50 2gigs of ram scores 5.9

2770 cpu score in 3dmark06.

I can play Crysis on medium with my crappy 8500gt. Cant wait til I get my 8800.

I was actually thinking about getting Asus P5N-E SLI, mainly because it supports 4 IDE Drives (I have many IDE Drivers and don't want to spend too much on new sata Drives) and SLI.

Will it overclock just as painless with Asus P5N-E SLI?

I would guess it would be decent. I never have used that board but it looks nice. I'm a ASUS fanboy. I like the fact that you can use your own image for the Bios screen. I think P35 boaards have better OCing reviews then the 680i but I would assume 3.0 real easy.
