How much can I get on an e6600 on air? w/ P5N32-E Sli mobo

How much of an overclock can I get on air using a Scythe Infinity-1000 aftermarket cooler and an Asus P5N32-E Sli? Im wondering if I will be able to get close to 500Mhz FSB as some others have reported or will I need a water block for such an extreme overclock as that?

Even if I could only get like 475+ on air that would still be beating the eVGA 680i so I would be happy with that too.

Yes I will have a PSU to support that kind of overclock.

The case will be a Thermaltake Soprano. (2 x 120mm fans, 1 x 90mm fan)

Any ideas?

I've seen E6300@ 3.75Ghz passively cooled (big heatsink).

Mine is at 3.22Ghz on 460Mhz using default cpu voltage, max'd the others out. But I need new thermal compound to push further. I was running at 30degrees idle, but now 40degrees after taking the heatsink off (bad idea).

Using corsair 2x512mb twinx epp cas4@800Mhz - up to ~1200MMhz (cas5).

Hoping for 3.5Ghz+. If the mobo and cpu can make it, theoretical 4.2Ghz on a 600bus (bios max) with 1200Mhz memory (tested). Unlikely though! I think the cpu is the weak link with heat being the issue, but I've yet to prove it.

Ohhh i love extremely generic questions. So heres a generic answer. How ever high your able to get it.

Every CPU is different. Just becasue some people hit 4ghz air cooled doesnt mean you will. The only way to find out is to try it.

yeah seriously it vary's chip to chip, i just bought an E6600 and staying within 1.55 Vcore i can only get to 3.5GHz and even that is extremely unstable and it isnt my motherboard its the card right now my CPU is 1700QDR 8x Mult so if it works, it works, if not oh well, im happy with my clocks

ah yes the chip is the most determining factor in maximum overclock I see. Well I'm gonna cross my fingers that I get a good chip for my Mobo !

Possible? It's definetly possible. But you need a damn good E6600 for that, since you are aiming at high OCs you should invest in a 3060 to make sure you will get a good chip.
Get Tuniq Tower 120 instead. Pair it with a FM121, lap it and add quality goop (NOT AS5). You can even do a nice air conduct (ask OCnewb 8) ).
You have a pretty good chance of hitting 500Mhz on 680i and that air setup.

Second, i got a soprano, its kinda cramped but its a nice case, my AcBel PSU has a 120mm fan and so does my TT big typhoon, one case, four 120mm fans

4mb conroes dont like fsb400+ from what i heard, my E6600 is on FSB400/1600 no troubles, stock vcore for everything bar the ram.

I have proven that that is a myth, its entirely up to the multiplier and the NBCC on which they are sitting.

I've gotten mine to 3.65 Ghz stable, using a Zalman CNPS9500. Haven't bothered taking it further, so I don't know what my limit would be.

having issues with my E6600 goin past 3.3ghz, i suspect memory cause my board at fsb400 sets my ram for C4 settings even tho its XMS2-6400 C5's!

havnt really tried that hard to crack it yet tho cause at 3.2 its still faster then what i need for now, but ill get over it and want more speed sooner or later
