The Windows 10 Anniversary Update brings Microsoft Edge one step closer to being complete by adding extension compatibility. While only a few are available right now, more are on their way. If you would like to install Microsoft Edge extensions after installing the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, here’s how to do it.

As well as releasing extensions for Edge, Microsoft are also planning to release an extension conversion tool. This will take Chrome extensions and convert them into something Edge can work with. This should mean Firefox extensions should work too. At the time of writing, the release date for the conversion tool has yet to be announced.

In the meantime, you can install a few browser extensions for Edge. They are mainly adblockers and Office 365-type apps but expect the number to grow quickly. Here is how to install them.

1. Open Edge and click the menu button in the top right.
2. Click Extensions and then the ‘Get extensions from Windows Store’ link.
3. Select your extension of choice and install.
4. Select to ‘Turn it on’ when prompted within Edge.
5. You should now see an entry for that extension in the Edge menu. You can configure and control it from there.
6. Right click the menu icon for the extension and select ‘Show next to address bar’ for easy access.

Once installed, Edge will manage all your extensions and automatically update them when appropriate.
