Hello,

I am trying to upgrade the SSD in my Dell XPS 13 9350. I purchased this laptop from Dell and want to make sure I can still use this Windows license. Is there some way to find the product key on my current copy of Windows? I read somewhere that for laptops the key is registered via the motherboard, and so finding a separate key is unnecessary. Is this true?

Thank you!

Just install windows 10, normally, and not worry about it. If it asks for product key, tell it you don't have it. It will activate, once you finish the install, and you are online. The license is tied to your motherboard.
Just to confirm, yes, it will not even ask for the key at install. (Just to be sure, tie the computer to a Microsoft account. It's handy if you ever run into a problem.) I just swapped a laptop with a new SSD yesterday. Just make sure you get rid of the old installation.
