Everyone in this world is getting way too politically correct. I hope you do not over do your monitoring, people shouldn't have to worry about walking on egg shells just during normal conversation.

Very nice.
I'm glad most of the comments, particularly the intelligent ones and/or from those I've come to respect, are overwhelmingly positive.

And, to those wishing to edit their posts, use the "Read the comments on the forums" link, and you will be able to edit.

Finally, FWIW, that Ban Hammer is almost exactly what I've imagined whenever I've seen that term "Ban hammer." Of course, the pic is missing a quarter (US 25 cent piece for our international friends), often used by photographers to indicate scale. Regardless, is it for sale? No, not that specific one, but if it isn't a one-of-a-kind, I wouldn't mind buying one if the price is reasonable.

and the #1 rule: don't piss off tuan

he seems to take things quite seriously, if somehow your comments ticks him off for whatever reason, he will delete it, and might start a fight with you, then ban you. others don't seem to be as tight as him.

[citation][nom]rhino13[/nom]This kinda spoiled my morning.I don't like off topic or raunchy posts, but I hate the idea of having to watch my back while posting.Oh well I guss I'll post till my comments start disappearing.[/citation]

Wow, you REALLY have to watch your back huh? You can't just, BE nice? It has to be something you need to consciously keep a tab on?

When you go to a public place like a mall or college, do you have to "watch your back" while being there? Just so you don't do something that would have you kicked out? That's like saying, "boy, this sure spoiled my morning when I heard the shopping center installed cameras to moderate people's behavior. I hate the idea of having to watch my back while I shop since I might slip and steal something."

Haha this is halarious. This will indeed help provide a better overall experience on TH as now I wont have to listen to all the crap some people say on here like the one quoted in this article.Im pretty sure most of the people who actually get themselves the ban hammer here are most likely the younger demographic 12-17 years of age.Behave kids...and I know some of you adults act just as immature.

I'm all for free speech, but this is your website and you can run it how you will. If you desire a certain level of maturity and credibility, then by all means moderate the useless or evil comments.

Keep it simple, though. Disagreements and debates are a wonderful thing.

[citation][nom]JonnyDough[/nom]So since whoever is moderating this right now deleted my rather polite and relative post does that mean you're going to start proofreading articles for spelling/grammar errors now? I agree that some posts are just pure flame but I had a valid point - this article was one of the better written lately, and it IS. So why the heavy-handed nazi=like deletion? Anandtech has always had the upper hand on you guys, and that's because they don't rush stuff to press and they know what they're talking about Anand rocks, take note. If you can't handle OPINIONS, then you shouldn't allow reader comments at all. FREE means FREE to state opinion. I am not being rude at all![/citation]

Thanks for the compliment on how the article was written, but, "nazi-like" ? C'mon, I am saying we're going to remove comments with racism, hate, and insults and stuff like that. I think the Nazi's WERE racists.

If you're going to label this as something outrageous, please, do it right.

I've seen one or two other posts here that call this "Nazi." People need to wake up. The are RULES EVERYWHERE. Nothing on TH says it's FREE ZONE to blast up other people and say anything your heart desires.

Do you know what the "Nazis" did? You think what we're doing is on that scale and mentality? So by that definition, anything with "control" instituted is "Nazi-like." Sorry to break it to you but, rules and controls exist everywhere to keep things moving along nicely. It's not something I just made up because someone ticked me off. It's something that should have been done since comments were made available.

Good move. It should make these forums better. I would go beyond and encourage others to report abuse and wild allegations and slanderous comments about certain online stores. Otherwise, if rumors start on TH, the big boys can after you with cease and desist orders. Happy posting!
BTW, is noob a bad word?

I am sorry, but there is either free speech or there isn't. I would rather have trolls and spammers than a controlled community. The thumbs up and down are for the community to decide what is bad. A better way to implement the system is to track the thumbs down, and remove comments instead of banning users. I don't think Tom's is a site i care to visit daily anymore.

There are apple haters everywhere because of the nearly facist policies they have, and this looks like an attempt to silence them. Did you guys get some funding from apple?

The problem, Tuan, is that the people who use words like "nazi", "communist", "socialist", "capitalist" and the likes don't even know what they mean. If they did, they wouldn't use them so lightly.

Wait, so what your logic is saying, is that becuase Tom's has an open door to their house so that anyone can come in and play, they should also let people decide their own rules while they're in Tom's house? Great logic.

And people insulting and being rude, actually have nothing to do with Apple. It simply has everything to do with not having class, control, character, and common courtesy. Simple as that buddy.

"I would rather have trolls and spammers."

Sure you would buddy. I would rather have criminals and murderers roam the streets than to have cops patrol the community. I'd hate to be pulled over for doing something offensive, boo hoo. Oh wait, communities, like towns and cities, ARE controlled! Would you imagine that!

Finally. Thank you, Tom's Hardware staff. I am sick of the ignorant and derogatory comments that have been plaguing this site for so long.

Why are you mad, because your a winfanboi that doesn't understand how superior a Mac is in every way?

Joking!! :D

Pirks and Reader1 are examples of the system working, I mean I think 90% of the readers are to the point of not even reading what they write anymore. If they would just present their arguments in a non-hostile, non-douche way then they wouldn't be auto voted down by everyone.

Oh well, I'm pretty sure every AT regular has told them that.

Will you do me a favor and take a poll to find out how old the average reader of Tom's is? Thanks. Also, surprisingly you didn't delete my new posts - I would like to commend you for that. Censorship should not be done just because you are challenged to be better at making your articles more readable. Any journalist who takes offense to being challenged is not willing to self evaluate and improve their writing. Remember, it isn't what you know, or how well you write that matters - what matters is the what the reader gets from it. The end result. You aren't writing it for you - you're writing it for us. We are your fans, your reason to be here, and the reason you have work at Tom's. Reward us, and we'll praise you. Rule us out of fear and well...we'll go somewhere else where we feel we're wanted and belong. But seriously, why are people today so juvenile? Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person here who didn't just graduate from H.S. :(

He's mainly why I started going to DT to begin with! Although I've noticed lately he's starting to get along a little better with the other posters.

I was actually referring to the science/political headlines on DT in my original post. There are a select group of users who seem to think they own the boards, and the DT mods seem comfortable with letting those guys say anything they want with no consequences. Fun to read, but a little disturbing at the same time.

You know, I completely understand what you're saying, but it doesn't excuse people from acting like jerks.

Here's a theory from Penny Arcade:

I agree. People these days lacked fathers, and therefore often lack discipline. We all need to learn and practice the following words:

RESPECT, INTEGRITY, HONOR

The golden rule was a part of our culture, taught in church. I'm not one for religion, heck I'm atheist - but I do believe in treating others how you want to be treated. Nobody likes being pre-judged, nobody likes to be publicly humiliated, etc. If we could just learn to respect each other and have honor.

I'm not huge on government, especially these days but I happen to be in the Air National Guard (Air Force).

Our core values are as follows, and its something we should all try to take into our personal lives. The world would be a better place.

Integrity first
Service before self
Excellence in all we do
