Ah well fazers, I guess anyone who laughed at your 'abandon AMD' advice at $1.80 6 months ago will be able to find some consolation with the 200% profit they made since then.

Aint no 'gaurantees' in this game, except that anyone who believed your predictions over the past year would be a very poor person indeed. 😀

What's that? More lies from JennyH? More made up facts and quotes?

JennyH = Lies

JennyH, be a true AMD Fanboy, don't let pesky little facts get in your way!

And in case you want some actual facts about the original topic of "Is AMD Doomed?", here are financial analysts estimates for AMD's 3Q 2009:

Most positive Q3 estimate: -.36 per share (hint, the minus sign isn't good)
Most negative Q3 estimate: -.58 per share
Average Q3 estimate: -.45 per share
Q2 2009 Actual: -.53

And I know you don't like it when people list sources and back up facts and opinions, but here's the SOURCE: http://investing.businessweek.com/research/stocks/earnings/earnings.asp?ric=AMD

That is why you rarely use it. However, I don't believe MSAA can be done with ray tracing, so SSAA is the only option. Throw in soft shadows and radiosity and you've got a long render ahead of you.

Too late JennyH has gone off on a AMD rant...

Oh please - does the H stand for Hector and Jenny is the name he uses for weekends only - wink wink.

Personally I think AMD are in a state of no recovery. Nvidia market their cards better. Intel market theirs processors better. Intel are going back in to graphics. Also the recession hitting hard too.

AMD are only supported by fanboys and market very badly. The need a decent PR team.

Look how Intel marketted the Prescott. Prooves even crap can sell if you put it in a nice box ( appart from Dell).

Im sorry to say but as of now AMD dont offer anything new anymore. Intel have released two new major architectures and amd are still running effectively on socket which is 3-4 years old but with updates.

No matter what anyone says facts are facts and no one can escape facts.

This forum generally sways the way the enthusiasts turn and its been Intels turn for a long time now. Do not feel that Intel caused AMD's problems.. AMD caused them - themselves - period. Every pc over here now in the high street features Intel chips with a few having AMD.

On LRB - Intel will make this work, and Intel will make a videocard to make their processors proud. Mark my words all what i have said about technology has come true at some point. What people dont realise ( the AMD fans ) is that Intel will chuck cash at it to make it work and they will not fail. Intel will do its own SLI too. 1 video card with 24 processors - add another - makes it 48 - it wont be that hard to do. What if Intel socketted the video card with a 1548 pin array ( or what ever ) and gives us the options to buy gpus like processors and upgrade the chip and the ram on the video card.

I really admired AMD last year when they released dual core cpu before intel. But now it seems the table is reversed. AMD is surely developing its "ammo" against Intel's i7. Who knows it could more powerful than i7. I hope.

That would be so sweet!

DONE! Here, I found a good one:

You're really.... AN INTEL FAN GIRL!!!!

(The message quote link is broken, here's the real link: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/254759-28-aims-lower-emissions-greener-products#t1872011)

But will it be able to afford it.

AMD cant afford that much R&D what they desperately need..

AMD had control and couldnt cope with it. It was un-sustainable. Admirable. But non the less un-sustainable.

AMD tried to be number one and lost. They should of kept at being number two and grow slowly.

Loads of AMD fans have turned against AMD. Look at the crap the 4x4 was. Look at the crap the Phenom was when it first came out. Soon to be forgotten the Phenom, it is. ( in the words of Yoda).

Intel actually was the first one to release a dual core back in 2005, as well as the first one to release a quad core in 2006.

I don't think thats what happened here really was it?

I didn't see any evidence of these working cells...maybe I missed that part can you point it out to me?

Only kidding. I know it wasn't useless.

I'm okay with JennyH being skeptical on this one. After all, no one ships SRAMs as products. How are we to know how many of those SRAMs are functional, even if there are the 2.9 billion cells per die? The rules of evidence, though, should be company-agnostic and you can therefore cast doubt upon the IBM claim to have a working cell a year ago. Did they demo it? To whom?

I will say, though, that this is exactly where Intel wanted to be at this point in time, and from this Tick-Tock looks to me (from an admittedly non-Fab background) to be right on track.

When IBM has 28nm (or even 32nm) ready to ship as revenue, perhaps this will be a more interesting conversation. Until then... well, we'll see whether Ivy Bridge or Bulldozer Shrink hits market first. Or even in the same year.

http://www.tgdaily.com/content/view/38941/135/

August 19th 2008, IBM/AMD demo the industries first ever 22nm cells.

1 year and 1 month later (23rd September 2009)... intel put a bunch of them on a wafer and assure us that they work, really.

Intel are leading in 22nm? Lol.
