[SOLVED] Humming in computer w/ 2 hard drives

I recently bought and installed a 500GB Seagate BarraCuda 7200RPM hard drive alongside my 2TB Seagate BarraCuda 7200RPM hard drive. The installation went well, but resulted in this harmonic humming in the case that comes and goes throughout the duration of the computer being turned on. Is there anything I can do to dampen this humming?

Here's the Amazon listings of the Seagate hard drives:

should not make any noticeable noise I would return it for a new one.
Thing is, I turned the computer on for an hour with each hard drive running separately, and there was no humming coming from the case until I turned them both on, which seems to tell me it's not an issue with the hard drive's performance but rather a separate issue concerning harmonics from the two very slight vibrations originating from the hard drives when spinning.

I have experienced the same phenomenon. I just learned to live with it.

What you are probably hearing is the difference in the rotational frequencies. Nominally the drives spin at 7200 RPM which corresponds to 120Hz. A 1% difference would result in a beat frequency of 1.2Hz.

I'm not an expert at this, but you think a 5400RPM hard drive would dampen the sound?
