Question I am looking for a cheap upgrade from a i5 4690k

Hello! I recently built a PC from a bunch of scrap parts and ended up with a Kaby Lake i5 4690k. I am noticing a lot of cpu bottlenecking on certain games causing lag spikes that get worse as the gaming session goes on. I plan on rebuilding with some of the newer AMD stuff coming out but I need a temperary upgrade that allows me to stay within the 1151 socket. I dont want to have to buy new ram and mobo until I go for the next bigger build. Any recommendations on a which CPU to get? Thanks!

I7 4770k or 4790k

As above your only options are to look at i7’s but generally they are overpriced for the moderate gains they will provide.

As I know LGA 1151 is all way up to Kaby Lake but depends on your motherboard model. Can be that you can put I7 7700K. With proper cooler you can overclock it and get good gains.
I would still wait and change whole rig cuz you are planning to do that anyway.

But if you can sell your cpu and buy that i7, that would be ok.

It's not a Kaby Lake, it's a Haswell.
