Hello, I had my build about 4 years ago and suddenly I have been getting black screens while gaming. and I tried a lot of methods but with no success.
My pc specs:
GPU: Palit GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER Dual 8GB
CPU: Processor Intel(R) Core (TM) i5-9400F CPU 2.90GHz
CPU Cooler: Intel Socket E97379-003 intel 4-Pin Connector
Hard drive: WESTERN DIGITAL 2TB WD20EZAZ
Motherboard: msi b365m pro-vdh / Bios version : 1.42
SSD: WD Blue Sata SSD 250 GB
RAM: Team T-Force DELTA RGB TUF GAMING (2×8) DDR4 2933 CL16 1.35v
PSU: Thermaltake Litepower LTP-0650P-2 650W Power Supply (I had it with the build 4 years ago)
Monitor: acer kg1 series 24 144hz kg241q
Chassis: THERMALTAKE V200 TEMPERED GLASS MID-TOWER, 3 FAN RGB SPECTRE
OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro Version 10.0.19045 Build 19045

Here is a list of the solutions I tried:
  • Running sfc/scan, DISM CheckHealth through CMD.
  • Updating Bios and resetting to default settings.
  • Disabled GPU driver through DDU in safe mode and did a clean installation of the latest driver.
  • setting power performance to the maximum.
  • I tried the GPU on my brother's pc, even did a stress test for about 15 minutes (temp was stable), and it ran without problems.
  • I cleaned all the dust from the components and checked all the cables.
  • after that I tried to run a game on the max setting the GPU utilization was about 99%-100% with 170-175 watts and the temperature was about 76-77. and after running for like 15 minutes with no problem when I opened the game menu to exit. it crashed!!
  • I even rested my windows and for some reason, it made it a lot worse.
  • And here is an error I found in Event Viewer recently

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

my build includes RTX2060 Super with 650 W Lite power Thermaltake PSU
How old is the PSU in your build? If you suspect your PSU to be the root cause of the issue, source(borrow, not buy a reliably built PSU with 550W of power at the entire system's disposal and see if the issue persists.

On second thoughts, please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.

Thank you for the welcoming and for replying.
Indeed, I suspect the PSU maybe the cause for the problem, but I am not sure. But I will look into that for sure.

here are the specs I have

I will leave that here if anyone had an issue like mine. it turns out that the problem wasn't caused by the PSU not providing enough power. The real issue was with the PCIe cable. When I switched to using the other end of the PCIe cable for the GPU, the problem was resolved.
