Question I can see 120hz but i can't change to it

Im having Acer B226WL and i can see 120hz,100hz,75hz etc.. on display settings,

but whenever i try to change to it it says input signal out of range and it goes back to 60hz. I'm using blue color VGA cable though.

Unfortunately it seems VGA only supports refresh rates of up to 60Hz. To use you monitor to it's full potential consider getting a HDMI or DP cable and using that instead.

So using any DP that supports my monitor and motherboard are ok right ? Im using Gigabyte H310m s2p board and integrated graphics on i7 8700. Will get a gpu next month.
