Question I cracked my motherboard will the cpu be fine?

About 6 months ago I bought an i5 9400f with mobo and memory. When we installed it we put a wrong screw in the mobo and it cracked. I managed to install windows but there were no sound input, so I checked if i had the hd audio cable in. After that the pc never started again. I then tried the cpu in my brothers mobo not knowing its a 100 series and the cpu is not compatible. Now I figured it out, is there any chance the cpu did not break with the mobo and I could just buy a 300 series mobo?

Yes ofcourse, after my school ends. Yeah but how do I try it if I dont have a 300 series motherboard. I would need to buy a new one with refund policy right?

Your i5 9400f is likely still functional and wasn't damaged by placing it in a 100 series motherboard. Investing in a compatible 300 series motherboard seems like a reasonable next step to try and utilize your i5 9400f.

So there's a high chance the cpu did not break by the broken motherboard? Thank you for the answer!
