I got a new drive but my laptop wont start

my drive went bad so i got a new one but my computer keeps saying drive is missing. what should i do?

need more information that that...
what kind of drive? an optical, a disk drive? a floppy drive?
is your computer saying the drive is missing, or are u noticing that its missing?
if the drive wont start, and you have the power and data plug in correctly, then it may be a bad drive, or something incompatible with your laptop
