Hello,
when i install it doesn't even get as far as the video turning on. The cursor in upper lefthand corner which shows that its in bios on staring up doesnt even come on. any ideas

The CPU isn't on the list: http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d975xbx2/sb/cs-026614.htm Sorry, but you'll have to get a new motherboard that officially supports it.

To use that CPU and your DDR2 memory, you could consider the Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P or the Asus P5Q Deluxe. The Gigabyte has a better layout while the Asus has better on-board sound and "Express Gate" (that I rarely use). Read the reviews about both and that should help you decide which one best meets your requirements.
