I had i3 -7100 on GA H110M-H Mobo.

Now I've bought GA H310 Mobo. (300 series).
But haven't bought any cpu and GPU yet.

Cuz I'm confused! :confused_old:

Should I buy i3-9100F? Or i5-9400F?
I'm thinking of going for i3 9100F(6K) cuz it's cheaper than i5 9400F (11K) ,here.

I wanna play AAA fps games on 1080p.
And do some rendering work(Blender, Unity).
I only wanna use this new Mobo for 2-2.5 yrs.

So, which CPU should I choose and also GPU?
Other specs :
16 GB RAM(@2400Mhz)
PSU - Antec Atom 550W.
Thanks!

I'm thinking of pairing it with either 1050 Ti 4Gb or 1650 4GB OC edition.
Target FPS is 60.
I only wanna play Fps games like BF 5, Cod Black ops Cold War etc.
With cold war I would get the 6 core.

It actually might be a better choice to sell both boards and your processor and buy a AMD 3600 and B550 board (the slow memory also if buying a AMD CPU) or the 1040 and motherboard.

Gotta warn you while there's still time - I hope.

Only B365 and Z390 boards work with 9th gen Intel cpus out of the box. The other 300 series require a bios update using an 8th gen cpu before the 9th gen can be installed.
Unless the store you bought that H310 from already updated the bios for you, all you'll get is a black screen with either of those cpus.

Yeah bro it's updated to latest BIOS F15b.

A 4 core/thread cpu is not really enough for modern AAA games so for that alone I would not choose the i3 9100F. The i5 9400 is 6 core/thread and is better for gaming and the other activities you want to do.

It’s a shame you already have a motherboard. Personally I would have looked at the Ryzen 2600 or 3600 which are 6 core and 12 threads and a much better option in my opinion and should cost no more. If you want Intel then the i5 10400F with 6 core 12 thread would have been better but needs a different motherboard. It’s just some games are already pushing 6 core 6 thread CPU’s very hard.

Okay, so I only wanna use this Mobo for 2 years, atleast. So, isn't 4 core 4 thread enough for 2021/2022?

In 2022/2023 I'll shift from Intel to Ryzen (7/9) for sure.

So, can I go for 4 C/4T for just 2 years?
You never listed the video card your using or the target FPS on the 1080p monitor.

Gears 5 on a 9100F. If your just looking for 60 or so FPS it's fine. Not even sure you play that game, what games you play must also be factored in.
In a lot of games 4 cores is still fine in some of the newer games it limits the FPS but if your target is 60 FPS it should be fine in most games.

That video of Gears 5 isn't actual game play, its the built in benchmark tool and not representative of multiplayer requirements.
