GUY's GUY's GUY's!!! 🙁

A while ago I watched a video on youtube from what I have figure out the guy in that video running GTX 680 sli with i5 3570k 4.6Ghz, he is runnig crysis 2 multiplayer everything sets on maxxxed you people watch this video and see on the top left GPU usage, temps, and fps, one thing makes me sad that is GPU usage not stable on 90's when it is supposed to be sometime drops to 50's that is strange, does this mean his cpu bottlenecking both the gpu's I'm planningto get i5 3570k and gtx 680sli, i5 3570k at 4.6ghz is pretty high overclocked then guess what will be the fps at 4.3ghz.

Crysis 2 is heavily CPU dependent, there's no reason to keep GPU usage in the 90% range, and his CPU would have to be overclocked quite a bit more to achieve that. When the GPU usage drops, the FPS actually increases, i.e. 100+ FPS, so the CPU just can't prerender anymore frames than that.

People actually play Crysis games? I thought it was just a benchmark, who cares what you get in it...

Anyway, the i5 3570k would not bottle neck 680's in sli even at stock speeds. What Cuecuemore said above is correct, Crysis 2 is 100% a console port, thus the high usage of the CPU and lower usage of the GPU's.

Hmm, yeah crysis 2 is cpu bounded but isn't that too low for that cpu did you watch the video it drops to 50's sometimes but as you said when the gpu usage drops fps increases for example if my gpu usage is at about 60's let say it is average and the fps are around 40 to 50 do you think it will be much smoother or laggy.

So the cpu is not bottenecking them...

Just to clarify terms (and answer your question) a 3570k at any speed will bottleneck 680s in SLI, meaning that you're not going to see 90-100% utilization on you GPUs, especially not consistently. However, starting right around 4.3 GHz on you CPU (4.4-4.5 on my 2500k if I recall) you'll be pushing a minimum of 60fps from your CPU, so any bottlenecking ocurring should be irrelevant.
