Hi All,

My i5 2550K is running at around 35C when idle. I just built it last weekend. I intend to OC and thought that might be a bit too hot for idle no?
I thought 2550 was going to run cooler. :??:

As I want oc it I want to have as better temps as possible before i try.

I am using H60 as outtake with stock 120 fan.

Here my build:
i5 2550K - not oc yet
Asus p8z77-v lx
saphire hd 6870
case zalman z11
Case fans:

2 x 120 stock zalman as intake (front and bottom)
1 x 120 stock zalman taking air out (top)
1 x Corsair H60 stock fan taking out as well.

Thanks Guys

Ademar

What are your ambient (room) temps when you're testing and get 35C?

35C is fine. I'm at 33-35C at idle too, with a Hyper 212 Evo (comparable to the H60). I see people all the time say they have idle temps in the high 20's, but I think that's not REALLY the norm.

Ambient temp is 73F and my load temps at 4.5Ghz are 61-65C (one core being the 65C outlier).

Hi, thanks for answer. I think in your case 35 is fine cause you already oc it no? my still stock setup.

Hi Thanks for the fast reply. I dont know exactly but my best guess is that is arround 22/24c. It is not normal is it? I mean, it could be much cooler than that no?

I already learnt that H60 wasn't my best investment in cooling system :)

No, those are my idle temps on the Balanced power profile with SpeedStep enabled. If I use the High Performance profile (a solid 4.5), my idle temps are more like 36-39C.

H60 isn't terrible. But less expensive air coolers perform better.

24C is a bit higher than usual for testing. When you test at different room temps you should notice differences in idle/load temps.
27C ambient = 38C
24C ambient = 35C
21C ambient = 32C

These temps are idle right? If it is, then I should make sure I know the room temperature and if it around 24 then my temps aren't bad I suppose.

Thanks for the help so far.

Hi, just check the link in your signature (about thermal paste) and I think I've put about half of the amount you show in the guide.

Could that be the reason why it is running a bit hot?

Well, will run a test today and check how hot it is on load.

thanks

Hi All, on load the cpu sits on 57c.
So my question is: Could I OC considering my current temps (35 idle / 57 load) ?

Or should I maybe wait for the thermometer so I can measure the ambient temps and then have a better cpu temps measurement?

I was thinking of changing the h60 stock 120mm fan for something stronger like Scythe Ultra Kaze 120MM 3000rpm.

Do you guys think it could help?
