For the price difference of around $2, with the same specs in every single way and the difference only in motherboard and processor, which is better for gaming and doing things like UDK or 3D rendering?
On the z77 side, it's an Asus P8Z77-V with an i7-3770k. On the x79 side, an Asus P9X79 with an i7-3820. To clear things, I do not think I will be upgrading the CPU anytime soon after purchasing. And even if I did upgrade, I don't see myself spending enough money for a 3930k or the coming Ivy Bridge Extreme that will replace the said processor.
I guess my question here is would there be any advantage in getting the x79 platform over the z77 platform if I won't be upgrading to a more extreme CPU? Should I be content with the 3770k and spend the $2 on iTunes or something?
My guess is that I will purchase my system around August-September, if it makes any difference.
