I'm looking for a new SSD for my games, CS5, and windows 7

i have 200GB of games, CS5 should be about 15 or 20GB and i don't know how much windows 7 is.

i will be getting the maximus iv extreme which has two sata iii ports.

my total system budget is $4000 but $900 is going to 3 monitors, $1300 going to GPUs... so the budget is cut a lot

i would like at least 280mb/s read and 200 mb/s write but higher would be nicer...

i have no experience buying SSDs and do not want to go with a PCI variant...


i am also willing to store apps and OS on one and games on another, if cheaper.


can you make any recommendations

total mem needs to be close to 300GB or 256GB, preferably 300GB, if possible

I was looking at a build using a 64GB SSD for just the OS and an HDD for storing games and everything else. I was informed that for windows 7 you will need at least a 60GB SSD.

64GB SSDs are pretty cheap compared to the $400-$700 300GB ones

Win7 64 bit Pro only takes about 20gb. A 64g is good for OS and a few programs. A 128g is a popular choice.256g tend to have better read/write times. As of now, anything larger has insane pricing.
As far as 200gb of games, a 10000rpm velociraptor would do good for less $.
The main plus for SSD's with games is the initial load time. After that, no noticeable difference.

this one had 356MB/s reads (the only thing im concerned with) which is better than all sata2 drives, the PCIe ones looked really good with 600MB/s reads but i have to keep my pci slots open for tri-fire and quad fire (lol)
