installed ram is 8gb but i can only use 3.25 gb

i have 6gb of ram installed on my spare pc but it says only 3.25gb is useable. also i do have an 64 bit operation system. pc specifications are:
processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.40GHz
installed memory: 8.00 GB (3.24 Gb useable)
System type: 64-bit Operating System

can anyone help me out please. the computer is only for a very small minecraft server.

What is the actual operating system and motherboard? In the bios, does the computer recognize the full amount of ram? More detailed information can help people offer better solutions.

it is windows 7
mother board is: Intel® Desktop Board D945GCZ
and also yes the bias is seeing the hole 8GB, in the 4 slots, 2GB in each slot ddr2

Bad news, the motherboard you have only supports 4.00gb of memory maximum. Memory mapping puts that 4.00gb down to the 3.25gb that you are currently seeing.
