Hello,
I have Dell Inspiron core 2 duo 2.4's. I want to sell it and buy a newer computer with equal or greater power. What Intel processor options do I have?

Thank you for your reply. Yes I'm selling the laptop. I got an offer for $300 but I started looking around and got hesitant to sell. I download a lot, music, movies, etc... I like to work with multiple tabs at a time and have music playing so I need some power

If you are not going to be playing any games then just about any laptop with a Core i3 will suit your needs. The following Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 for $500 should suit your basic needs.

While the Core i3-2350 @ 2.3GHz is 100MHz slower than your Core 2 Duo mobile CPU, the actual increase in performance is about 20% thanks to a better CPU architecture.

Click the following link which compares the desktop Core 2 Duo E8600 (3.16GHz) and the Core i3-2100 CPUs (3.1GHz). Mobile CPUs are based on the same architecture as the desktop versions so the performance should more or less correlate to each other.

Ignore the SYSMark 2007 synthetic benchmarks. Synthetic benchmarks are basically crap, because actual benchmarks paints a difference performance picture.

you can buy a laptop with an A6 for cheap which has decent graphical performance for videos and such and also being quad core, it will work very well for multitasking.

I'd say $300 is a really good deal for your laptop as the person can buy a new c2d laptop for that price online.
