In prepping for a CPU upgrade, I noticed there was a new BIOS available for the X299 Gaming 7 but see a note that states, "No support for Intel Optane when new CPU is installed". I'm currently running a 7900X and was interested in upgrading to Cascade Lake-X when it releases but my OS drive is an Optane 905p. Has anyone on X299 upgraded to F9o and retained access to Optane storage?

Solution
I'm 99% sure they were referring to the M.2 slots on the board to lack Optane support once you perform the BIOS update. Seeing how the Optane SSD you have runs off a physical PCIe on the board. You could still use this link to look at the optimal layout of your parts on the board with the i7-7900x.
