as far as voltage, why can't I hit 4.6 with any less than like 1.34v? is it because im running a asrock pro4 with *** VRM? my cooler (H60) is also a POS...so what would be the best bet for me to be ablet o get past 4.5ghz @ 1.28v? my max temps when running ITB on very high are 85C when the TDP jumps up to like over 200watts for a split second. other than that they're in the high 50's to low 60s under load. seems like im at a wall, but im wondering how the heck to break it down.

Your temps can't be right? To low for full load @4.6 with an H60...

And yes you either got a not-so-great chip, or your mobo is limiting you.

Im at 4.5...i said im trying to get 4.6... and actually yeah nm on VERY HIGH the TDP stays way up for a long time so my temps stay at the 74-87C range depending on what core we're talking about.. i was giving the temps on the STANDARD stress level. oops. on HIGH, the temp average of my last 15 pass run was 88C (4.5ghz)

That is uncomfortably high. When you look at temps, look at "package" temps, not just a single core.

yeah i know it is. i did this by using core temp, taking the max value of each core after a 15 pass run on HIGH stress setting, and averaging it.

Here is mine. I havent had time to prove stabilit to you guy yet. But i've been playing with my I7 2600K. I had it a 5.2ghz last nite with a vcore of 1.55v.

Here is an image of CPU-Z with proof and a link to my 3DMark test. Proving it's stable enough to pass 3DMarks physics test. Maybe tonight i will validate it and make it stable.

Hell if i'm in a good mood i may try 3.5ghz :D

Thanks saint. I'll have a look now....

Sorry guys im not trying to spam your thread. I was at work and posting using images i made last night. So i made a bit of a mess of it. And didnt include things the OP required.

I've just had another go, this time i included CPU-Z validation. AFAIK this is atleast enough evidence to be classed as "unstable". I did try an intel burn test, but my PC crashed about halway through the 3rd run, so i'll play with the voltages later and see if i can't make it more stable.

For now here's my I7 2600k @ 5.2GHZ. My spcs are:

CPU: I7 2600K
Motherboard: Asus Maximus Genez/Gen3 ROG Edition
CPU Voltage: 1.504
CPU Bus Speed/Multiplier: 104.0 x 50
Clock Speed: 5.2 GHz
RAM: 2x4GB Ripjaws Dual Channel DDR3
Cooling: I'm not too sure i had my friend fit my cooling, but it's water on a closed loop
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

For anyone who wants to know, the RAM was $250 and originally rated at 1600MHz 7-9-9-25-2T
Cooling was $80. CPU is partially unlocked SBe, $270. Board was $170.
