@ mastergup, ASRock M/Bs are bad about lowering the Intel bus clock to 99.98mhz, if you'll manually set the bus clock to 100.00mhz or even 100.01mhz in the BIOS, it will give you a solid 4.7ghz clock reading, instead of 4.698.9ghz.

Some of the ASRock M/Bs even if you manually set it to 100.00, it will auto default it back to 99.98mhz so you may have to go to 100.01 or 100.02, ~ 100.05mhz you'll still be bus clock good range because you're not even close to 101.00mhz so don't worry about that.

I had this exact problem with my old ASRock Z77 board.
 
A new motherboard for me equals a new test. Actually managed to get my grumpy i5 3570k to hit 4.6GHz on this MSI board, which is nice. Specs are as follows:

CPU: i5 3570K
Motherboard: MSI Z77A-G45 Gaming
CPU Voltage: 1.215v
CPU Bus Speed/Multiplier: 99.98Mhz/ x46
Clock Speed: 4598.93Mhz
RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance LP 1600Mhz
Cooling: Xigmatek Dark Knight Nighthawk Frostbourne Edition
OS: Windows 7

I'm getting my NZXT Source 340 in a weeks time, and my Cooler Master Seidon 120V should be here in a few days too, so I'll be trying for 4.7GHz at that time 😀
 
Yeah, I'm still trying to work out how to use this motherboard and its accompanying software. I'd just gotten to grips with my old ASRock Z77 Pro3 board when a few things went wrong with it and I did a side-upgrade to this board.
 
Well, my NZXT Source 340 arrived, as did my CM Seidon 120V water cooler, so I figured I'd try and hit 4.7GHz.

EDIT: Because I forgot my specs:

CPU: i5 3570K
Motherboard: MSI Z77A-G45 Gaming
CPU Voltage: 1.2300v
CPU Bus Speed/Multiplier: 101Mhz/ x47 (MSI Control misreads BCLK as 101 for some reason)
Clock Speed: 4699.40Mhz
RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance LP 1600Mhz
Cooling: Cooler Master Seidon 120V
OS: Windows 7

While the voltage is a little higher than I'd like, there really isn't much in the way of fine control on this motherboard, so 1.23v will have to do. Temps got a little high at 86°c with an ambient of 23.4°c, but the fan that came with the cooler will be stripped off and a push/pull setup with 2 x Arctic Cooling F12 PWM 120mm's should see those temps drop back in to the mid 70's. All in all not a bad little AIO with a low price point, great performance and compact size.

I've since removed the LED fan from the top of the case so it isn't as bad now. As for the other lighting, it's an NZXT LED cable that runs from the top left corner, down the left edge and all across the bottom of the case, tucked inside the rolled edge so as to keep it out of the way. The LED is also controllable via a small switch mounted to a PCB tucked underneath the midplate.



It is only 10 standard runs for now, yes, mostly because the temps are a little high for my liking and I don't know what a 10 run on high will do to it. I'm going to try and shave the voltage down to 1.2150 and see if she stays stable on another standard 10 run, and then after that I'll push it to high.
 
Well after a "High" run on IBT at those settings, it bluescreened, so I will need to bump the voltage little higher, and before I can do that I need to fit the new fans, which won't be until after I can get another fan splitter. So for now I think I'll stick with stock speeds and worry about more OC'ing later. At least I know I can happily hit 4.6GHz and be completely stable, so that's a good place to start I reckon :)
 
So today I got my other case, a cooler master haf xb.
put on some Corsair Air Series AF120 LED Quiet Edition only 31cfm, but its 3 degrees cooler then with the original h100 fans.

Well, I managed to get 4.6GHz at 1.1950 and stable, but attempting to push 4.7GHz at anything below 1.3 now seems unfeasible. I think perhaps it is down to me not applying the TIM properly. I'll whip the cooler off tomorrow and reapply. With luck I should see 4.7@1.28 and stay under 90°c. I would appreciate any input or advice from any other i5 3570k owners, specifically anyone who also runs a 120mm water cooler on such a chip. What temperatures did you get? At what voltages did you achieve 4.7GHz? I look forward to your answers 😀
 



I have a 3570k also, I get temps in itb at high settings from 80 degrees Celsius.

Why would you even want to stay at 4.7ghz with those temps? Even if it was stable I would still back it off to 4.6ghz to increase life. The performance increase between 4.6 and 4.7 is negligible.
 


I had no intention of staying at 4.7GHz if it meant being anywhere near those temps, but it is fun to see how far you can go :) Right now I've just finished running an hour or so of P95 running 4.5GHz@1.1550v @77°c with an ambient of 23.4°c which is much better.
 


Do you have SC of that? Because 1.1550V (that I really dude) is almost stock voltage.
 


I didn't take any pics I'm afraid. However I am currently running 4.5GHz@1.1280v max temp of 78°c and seemingly stable on P95. I'll run it on IBT and see what happens there and take screenies.

EDIT: Well, lets forget I said that shall we. Apparently it didn't like running 4.5GHz@1.1040v on IBT on high setting. It lasted 9 out of 10 runs and then BAM!, blue screen. So sad.
 


Could you take the same SC with the stress test running? Maybe with y-crincher running using this configuration:

Launch the program, press 2, enter, 0, enter, x GB (x being nearly how much RAM your system has free according to task manager), and press enter. The program will periodically indicate how much time has been consumed for the testing.
 


Given the late hour here in Germany I'll have to pass on doing that tonight. But I will happily run some more tests in the morning and include some screenshots for you as well :) Does this mean I have a good chip then?

EDIT: Because I am impatient I figured I'd quickly check out the program before I hit the sack and it seems to be complaining about the swap file. Please note my OS is on an SSD, and after numerous issues with the swap file I moved it back on to the SSD and gave it a maximum size of 4GB. As I do not understand this Y-Cruncher software I do not understand it's objection to my swap file arrangement, so any advice for me for the morning would be greatly appreciated :)
