I did catch what you were saying, maybe you missed what I was saying. You said "The reason you guys would rule out Sandra or Everest is because you have no chance at putting up a comperable score." and I saidno, its because I have no interest in the scores, since they don't affect anything I actually do.

And you still haven't done anything but make unsupported arguments and rant about your PC. Maybe you missed what I am saying????

Some people build desktops with Pentium M Processors, but they are still mobile platforms, as is anything based on a Core Duo Mobile implementation, even if its built in a 500lb slab of rock.

Not sure what more you want from me, these are all in the top scores (not #1 specificaly, rather a very high score close to the top) on the ORB. I have held top positions for about six years now.

We said we don't give a sh!t what you get, we want a benchmark proving @ stock speeds that a CPU is better than another, not how much you are able to get on 3DMARK and PCMARK.

Why are you so thick??

We have told you repeatedly, you have proven that you have a good system. So What? What does that have to do with the price of rice in China? If this were an Overclocking thread, maybe we'd be ooohing and awwwing over your scores. OOOOHHH AWWW, are you happy now??

This is a thread about Intel's claims about OFF THE SHELF processors vs AMD OFF THE SHELF processors. You have not posted ANYTHING on that topic at all. You keep posting the same old crap that has nothing to do with the comparison being discussed. If you don't have anything of value to contribute to the discussion at hand, please stop posting, as you are diluting the actual discussion.

Agreed.

Ya know, its funny how people can ignore any arguments they disagree with and contiunally repeat the same thing over and over again as if that will make it relevant or true..

Anyway, but to the topic at hand, Intel's marketing is approaching sad ("Our paper processor is 20% faster than your paper processor). We will just have to wait and see what happens ina few months.

Speaking of Macs by the way, did anyone else see the article on AnandTech the other day about how last year the Mac Mini was above using IGP, since it was a major drawback for Intel systems, and now the new Intel based Mac Minis have Intel IGPs? I thought that was pretty funny.

That is kinda funny and ironic. Hergie, what you have in your system?

I currently have an

A64 3800+ Clawhammer
2 GB (4x512, I know, I know)
Gigabyte GA-K8NSNXP-939 Nforce 3
36Gb Raptor OC Drive
2x 120Gb SATA Data/programs drives
AIW 9800 Pro 128 MB video card.

However, I am considering an upgrade to an Opteron 170, and ASROCK Dual SATA-2 board (which will allow me to keep my AIW features while still haveing a PCI-E slot), and an ATI X850XT vid card (I don't play a lot of graphics intensive games.

That will kepp me until the next gen platforms are mature.

ok guys im back *looks at thread* holy crap 10 pages 8O dudes i've been gone 2 days and its already up by 5 pages geez so whos been fightin who *looks at replies* holy crap mike and hergie have been fightin fugger and caboose! 8O
wow i leave for 2 days and this happens woo! man

I havent been fighting caboose, or anyone really. I've just said that Fugger should back up his claims with some real evidence.

You should know I try not to take sides in the AMD vs Intel argument.

Im not running stock so I guess we have a problem meeting on your STOCK technicality. I was obvoiusly referring to overclocked in my very first post as you wouldnt put LN2 on a stock system.

Oddly owning the said hardware means zippo here, its far better to talk about it and have read it all elsewhere to be a reputable source here.
By default that negates anything I say in terms of Yonah/Dothan/Presler performance because me owning them and running them really doesnt count to really knowing anything at all. Proven fact on THGF, many times over.

Fact still remains, AMD failed with FX-60. It is no longer competitive vs Intel clock for clock or scaling when overclocked. This includes, Presler, Dothan and Yonah. No need to look ahead to Conroe

Get over it, no need for me to repeat myself again. You will find out on your own.

Wow, thanks Fanboy, go get yourself a cookie and a popsicle, watch some cartoons, you deserve it! 😀

So you compared three Intel systems that you own and run, and that led you to the logical conclusion that the FX-60 sucks and can't compete? Wow, you are good.

Nobody said you had to use your own systems. Since there are so many places showing how Intel beats AMD on the internet, we asked you to kindly show us one. You have been unable to do so.

I'm not going to debate your statements about OCing, as I know Intels OC better. However, if you think a 2.0 GHz Presler will beat a 2.0 GHz AMD clock for clock, you are sadly mistaken. OH WAIT, there is no 2.0 GHz Presler because Intel's design can't compete at the same speed.

Again, you HAVE NOT PROVIDED ONE SHRED OF EVIDENCE for your claims. Kindly show me two equally clocked Processors, one from each company, and we will see which one wins, or even two equally rated processors. That is what is called PROOF.

You have been nothing but hot air and I am done with you.

In my best Mike Myers voice;

there is a 200MHz Core Clock frequency, I like to refer to this as the "Crystal Clock".

The clock crystal is a fixed frequency. Bus adjustement is done via the PLL chip. You may call it a Crystal Clock" but no one else does.

Complete lack of DDR2, Dothan, Yonah, Presler.

That so owns me when you cannot get computing 101 correct. 😀

1) That alone doesn't matters. I mean what would you choose: a very cool P4 6 GHZ(fictional of course) or a 3 GHz AMD 64. Longer pipelines are not necesarily a bad thing you know.

you know i do care about pipelines. im a gamer and i don want my long pipes to stall when i strafe to the right... lol

Intel is a good chip, no doubt on that. they have a superior manufacturing capability right? Their 65nm process is giving them the lead over AMD chips. Look at their power consumption for example. Right now, the 65nm chips consume less power ryt? And somehow AMD is on par (not too far behind, that is if i remember correctly) with it on 90nm. Correct me if im wrong. But what if AMD moves to 65nm late this year or early next year? Can anyone guess the results? :)

It's like the performance wars. Why is it that an AMD chip can go on par with an Intel cpu that has a 1Ghz clock advantage? This is the statement i usually say to intel fanboys here in Manila. Most of them just bow their heads and turn around... lol

Strange... i didn't notice how long this topic is. Im on the 10th page??? :?

Let me ask you a serious question, are you on these forums for any other reason than to brag about your PC and how Intel gives you all these chips in advance?

Ok guys well to settle this AMD IS THE BEST-they single fingerly beat Intel-fingers down. Also you get a better reliable chip from AMD ,I've had 3 intels they all overheat or something screwy happens with the chip-screw that i went to AMD

1)AMD has cheaper prices

2)Better reliability and built better.

3)OC great

And for your comments on the price difference AMD is cheaper than Intel on the 955 vs. FX60

On www.zipzoomfly.com

AMD FX 60 $1011.00
Intel 955E $1045.00

U just got pwnd on info bud

Did you have fun at Google scouring hours away to find some shred of computer terms to match me? Is that your goal in life since you can't defend yourself? Congratulations, you won the award for the Largest Dumbass On Tom's Hardware Forum's, ALRIGHT!

well I see that the fued is still going. SIgh and my game disconnected, and now I have to wait for the guy I was playing with to come back so we can load the saved game!

Back on topid. Fugger your useless benchmarks prove nothing about your computers leatness to a similarly OCed AMD. Hell talk to the guys on your forums who Oced a FX-57 over 4ghz, do some test together and then come back with your tail between your legs when they trounce you off the forums there too.

Talking about games: I just got back from a friends house, we were playing Fight Night Round 3 for XBOX 360, man, I whooped his @$$ all over the ring, socked him with haymaker after haymaker, it was awesome sh!t.

Yeah XBOX360 is pretty sweet, don't know if it pwns PS3 or gets pwned by PS3(Ignore that statement, it will likely ignite some console war BS)
