I was implying that as well. It just happens that in this case Intel is making the claims.

I for one, based on recent performance, am a little leary of believing them until I see the results.
 
agreed - i agree to wait, i agree that untill actual performance numbers are shown we dont know anything about the performance and it could be better or worse i mean look now - P4 is 20% better in maybe in some intel optimized app, its meaningless really.

Gotta wait a few months before seeing what conroe is all about.
 
I know its odd, but I didn't have a choice on the chipset or processor. I chose the GPU, the enormous fan, and the power supply. Its complicated. But in short I still love this system, its served me well. I just prefer AMD thats all.

No they aren't. Not unless he/they have split personalities. They are both (I think) young, but they act too differently to be the same person. They are just two guys who love AMD.

I think we're the same age, but can't be sure. Yes, I am young, and I am very dumb, I am a model child for the Young and Dumb personna, but I am also a model child for Knowledge and Wisdom (self proclaimed). BTW, I do love AMD!

I agree with some of the comments here. I believe 0% of the pre-hype from any compnay. I am forever the skeptic. Once I see detailed info from a reasonable independent third party or multiple third parties I can then draw good conclusions.

Yea, I'm having a good night. Got my OC up to 2.59GHz and I beat an FX-55 (yes!).

I wish I could rehydrate the ones, but they're inside my closet and I'm lazy 🙁.

I went gaming Saturday (it's Sunday here) and we played CoD2, Armies of Exigo, Tribes Vengeance, Fly For Fun, and Gunz. I annihilated everybody in CoD2 as usual, it was fun.

I think Intel could beat AM2, but I believe Intel will now be on par.

I want an X2!! So if the Conroe comes out and is smokin I would guess the lower prices would follow...

J/K. There are quite a few older guys here. I am in the middle at 25, but I give myself extra credit since I have been doing this for a long time and have a degree in computer engineering (not that that means anything).

Intel conroe vs AM2 - its prolly the same as comparing a Thunderbird with a Tualatin (its the closest thing i could find that could hint the performance):

Intel P3 Tualatin 1400 vs AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1400
NM - Intel (130nm) vs AMD (180nm)
Heat - Intel (27w) vs AMD (72w)
FSB - Intel (133 SDR) vs AMD (266mhz DDR)
CACHE - Intel (512k) vs AMD (256k)

Conroe vs AM2 should be the same - Intel's refined manafacturing process (65nm), double cache (4mb) and crappy FSB vs AMD's slightly older manafacturing process (90nm), half the cache (2mb total) and a faster FSB (well actually no fsb but you get the idea)

Conroe could be where P3 left off in performance...
 
Get your FX-60, I dont care if it is LN2 with a 1Kw power supply, SLI 7800 GTX video cards and whatnot. find me one benchmark you can beat me at and I will give you ten that wipe the floor with you.

I already know there is not an FX 60 on the planet worthy of considering itself competition of the 955XE once overclocked. I will rip you apart in bandwidth.

When it comes to getting cold, not many on the planet can compete. But that is not a problem for you as the FX 60 does not like to get very cold. It would be useless to me.

The Presler is very strong Netburst, anything that takes advantage of the large cache run better on that platform with the high speed processor.

Intel 300mm .064nm wafer vs AMD 200mm .090nm wafer

Like stated near the start, the orignal docs contained much more platform specific need to know information. Intel 950 GMA is found on Napa and Yonah runs on Napa.

Dothan has been out almost a year now and beat it in just about everything except SLI/CF dependant benchmarks as Dothan platform is void of an SLI/CF motherboard.

Yonah was released the first week of January, clock for clock embarrases A64 and dual core performance to a whole new level.

The P3 had power in its day, I would love to see Intel pick up from that spot. I want to see both companies release great products because it pays off for the consumer. Remember the race to see who could hit 1000 MHz first? I am neither an Intel fanboy or an AMD fanboy, I want the best and fastest processor. Both are good companies, and I want them both to do good because that means that the competition will be higher and we the consumers will get the benefit.

Wow, what did I miss? Here I thought they were at 65nm and 90nm respectively, and it turns out they are actually a factor of 100 smaller? I must have really benn out of the loop.
 
guys I will tell you why Intel's processors are spreading more than AMD's ones ...

here in EGYPT ..the Middle East ...if you bought an AMD ..you'll be tottaly out of your mind ...AMD is becoming hot very fast ...yes that's true ..I see it my self ..and AMD FX-57 fly over 90C ...!!

but If you bought and (say ) Intel 950 3.7GHZ ...with stock cooling ..you won"t go beyond 65C ..
and please don's say that we are mistaken ..or any bulls like that ..AMD is made for cold countries ... not here ..at least the Middle ..-
