...Intel 300mm .064nm wafer vs AMD 200mm .090nm wafer...

Wow, what did I miss? Here I thought they were at 65nm and 90nm respectively, and it turns out they are actually a factor of 100 smaller? I must have really benn out of the loop.

The size of the wafer's are smaller (300mm for Intel and 200mm for AMD) and they're 65nm and 90nm gate length. Intel is prime to open a 45nm 300mm Wafter plant known as Fab 32 in Chandler, Arizona, while AMD just opened it's 65nm Fab 36 for 300mm Wafers in Dresden, Germany IIRC, it should be fully functional sometime this year.

guys I will tell you why Intel's processors are spreading more than AMD's ones ...

here in EGYPT ..the Middle East ...if you bought an AMD ..you'll be tottaly out of your mind ...AMD is becoming hot very fast ...yes that's true ..I see it my self ..and AMD FX-57 fly over 90C ...!!

but If you bought and (say ) Intel 950 3.7GHZ ...with stock cooling ..you won"t go beyond 65C ..
and please don's say that we are mistaken ..or any bulls like that ..AMD is made for cold countries ... not here ..at least the Middle ..-

Okay buddy. BTW, are you Osama?

That was my point, Fuggers previous information was incorrect. nobody has gate lengths anything near 0.064nm or 0.09nm yet. Thats picometer size, which is still a ways off.

Well, FYI, Intels processors are NOT spreading more than AMD's. That is why AMD has gained so much market share in the past 18 months.

If your FX-57 flys over 90C, you do not have it connected correctly. It is still a true that AMD's with stock cooling are about the same as the 65nm Intel processors. And a 950 is 3.4GHz, not 3.7.

And, pleas to the contrary aside, you are mistaken in your assertion that AMD's are made for cold countries. While the companies do seem to be moving in opposite directions thermally (at least until AMD reaches 65nm), they have not yet passed each other to that degree.

I love it when people thinks they are experts and talk about things they don't even know ...

first AMD is not spreading that much ..because customers who are buying AMD is either gamers or computing Technicals (ie, graphics designers ..)

Intel products are very cheap and available in the low and med end market ...unlike AMD .
I am talking about what I see in my country ...AMD is at very very high cost ..and they corrupt rapidly ..so if you're not sure ..take a quick search tour at google and see about AMD demirts in the Middle East ...

I also love it when newbs like you come into forumz and talk like you know everything, it's quite amusing. AMD is making gains in NORMAL USER desktop computers from Compaq, HP, eMachine, Lenovo, etc. Not just Enthusiasts and Technical Users. AMD makes cheaper CPU's than Intel on a Price/Performance ratio. You can buy a heap Pentium D for $150, but it performs like Root Canal, whereas for $295 you can buy a Athlon X2 outperforms almst all 8xx Series PD's. BTW: You haven't answered my question of if you're Osama or not.

BTW: It's not hard to become an expert on computers, you just have to have a brain, something you seem to lack.

Havin a good night Mike?

Sorry, Fresh out of strawberries.

Maybe you could re-hydrate the ones on your shirt from the other night?

Hey you said you were gaming last night whatcha PLAYIN?

We are ut2k4 and COD mostly...

And for on topic Intel could actually beat the AM2? Maybe?

Yea, I'm having a good night. Got my OC up to 2.59GHz and I beat an FX-55 (yes!).

I wish I could rehydrate the ones, but they're inside my closet and I'm lazy 🙁.

I went gaming Saturday (it's Sunday here) and we played CoD2, Armies of Exigo, Tribes Vengeance, Fly For Fun, and Gunz. I annihilated everybody in CoD2 as usual, it was fun.

I think Intel could beat AM2, but I believe Intel will now be on par.

~~Mad Mod Mike, pimpin' the world 1 rig at a time

I think that is the first statement I have seen you say something besides a contradiction to what someone said about Intel being better than AMD. Atleast this time you didnt right out tell him hes a fanboy idiot and that hes a newb. 😛

On topic, someone said you don't believe the hype until its tested fully by other parties. I agree with you on this point. I wait atleast 6 months before I ever buy new tech either in my console or my pc(had to sell my PS2 as wasnt using it anymore since I built my first system).

I waited for about a year before I bought my first and only PSX. That was when PSX and N64 were viaing for best console, and Dreamcast was on the horizon. Then it was XBox vs PS2 vs Dreamcast and PS2 had the games I wanted to play, and the contoller I wanted in my hand. PSX was a good system, I figured I could also play my old games on PS2 and get better use overall of the system. Which I did.

So I agree, wait for the reviews from third parties, and go with what you want to go with. I like AMD, cause it works for me. Why change what works. I don't care if for my buck I get a little better preformance from an Intel, though comparisons of this nature right now usually point to AMD.

Either way like Intel for your reasons, or like AMD for your reasons. If you want what gives you the maximum performance, then go for it, AMD or Intel. If you like a brand cause it works for you, kudos. But if you don't have facts to back up your statements, your not only a bulls**ter, but a lousy supporter of your platform.

That last part is said to all the fanboys who just spout BS to defend a position they don't have all the facts for. Obvious is the fact, you didn't debate in High School.

Mike, like that you have the facts, so few here do. You can support your position very well. I may not like the bashing, but frak all if all of us don't bash others in some way. I know I do.

so we are all idiots, lets just realize it and move on.

65nm. 64 was a typo, but I guess you did not have any clue wtf I was talking about?

As I thought, attacking me is best answer. I could easily assume you dont even own a dual core CPU yet let alone a FX-60. Pick a typo and not a topic is an artful way to avoid the emabarrasing truth.

Cleaned up,

lol, um, if your FX-57 is at 90C you got a serious problem and you are probably one of the few. My god where has this guy been? Everyone in the world knows that the P4 is a fraking space heater. In no tests but water and phase cooling(on third Party Sites) has nearly one tests shown a P4 even beng remotely cool with stock cooling. Ranges are from 55C-70C in idles or loads, and unOC.

Thats just the tests I have seen, I haven't seen all of them, but the ones I have seen say that on stock cooling P4's are very very hot. And more than one Intel user on this forum has also said so.

Also if you are running a FX-57 above 80 I would be quite surprised, that is thermal death for any CPU, whether it is slow or fast.

AMD isn't growing that much huh?

"...In the first seven weeks of 2006, AMD's share in desktops in that area climbed to 81.5 percent, while Intel's has slid to 18.5 percent, Baker said. That's almost a complete reversal of their typical relative positions. In notebooks, Intel's share has declined to 63 percent, even though Baker and others generally agree that Intel enjoys a technological advantage in laptops." The full article can be seen here

Since you are talking country specific information, DON'T expand Intel vs AMD stats in your country to worldwide. Speaking of people talking about things they don't even know. World wide, in the desktop market, AMD is growing much faster than Intel. I will admit that AMD's share is low in the middle east, however, to use that as the basis for a global generalization is just dumb.

As for AMD's corrupting rapidly, your country must be getting the bottom of the barrel, since I have never seen AMD exhibit that behavior, and I have been building/supporting systems for years.

uhm, the issue wasn't 64 vs 65nm, it was that you stated it was .064(5)nm, or 64 picometers which is 100 times smaller than nanometers.

And to say or imply that Intel having a smaller feature size makes it's chips better is just plain wrong, since AMD has for the past several years had no problem meating/beating Intel chips even when they were one process stage behind (I.E. 130nm vs 90nm).

I am not a fanboy, and I am not saying one company is better than the other, cause as I said before, it all changes every coouple months. However, I hate when people present incorrect information as unequivocal proff of their arguement

Just for $h1ts and Giggles, why don't you show us these ten to one benchmarks that prove your point, instead of just making random claims about how Intel is great and AMD sucks??? Then maybe we will believe you or at least take you seriously.

Actually I have to disagree. The most hillarious thing is Robot Chicken. Adult Swim, Cartoon Network. Best parody ever, Optimus Prime dying from testicular cancer, and when he kicks the bucket, he transforms into a Red and Blue casket. Thats hillarious sh*t

HA HA, that was great!! I love that show. I was dying the first time I saw that Skit! Its great to see a show that uses toys from back in the day as the characters for its skits.
