want to buy an AMD to play your video games on high quality? go ahead

Neither doesnt matter, my friend owns a 2.66ghz Intel p4 presscot, and he has a sweet 6800gs video card, and guess what, it runs better then my AMD 64 3000+ with a 6600gt. He has better frames then I do, and he has better quality setting. And his lowest frames are around the same as mine. My processor scored more in Aquamark 03, but that means nothing to me when im doing real world apps like pure gaming and applications. Im kicking myself for getting single core AMD of Single core Intel. The intel one multitasks A LOT better pluse it plays games just like mine just as well, for a fact that i have an intel p4 3.0ghz in the basement (parents computer) and its frames are around the same as mine and never lags once, with the same setup. So I want you MadModMike and others like you to take your biased bull crap and shove it. If someone wants either, allow them to get it, dont tell them "Oh amd is WAY BETTER" wich is not, what the AMD counterpart of the intel one is like 5-10 frames better? yeah big deal since games drop in incraments larger then 15FPS. If youre games requirements are below the minimum, then you must worry, but ive seen processors below recommended (Fear on a 2.4 ghz intel) run as smooth as butter with a 6800nu.

I feel like im the only one on here that has any knowlege at all. FOR GOD SAKES!! IF THE GAME RUNS PERFECT THEN THATS FINE!!! you dont need benchmarks to prove anything. Hell here i go, i score like sh!t in 3dmark06 and guess what, im able to play fear on almost max setting with a stable 40fps and runs smooth as silk and its beautiful, my friend scores less then me in 3dmark03 due to his processor (2.6ghz intel) and his games run just as smooth as mine, somtimes better due to my hard drive problem im having right now (ordering a new motherboard to support my Western Digital 250gb Sata2 hard drive.

Wow.....pure Wow....you are a dumbass sir, 111% Bonified Dumbass. You obviously have 0 knowledge if you're comparing a 2.66P4 (which BTW has a 533MHz FSB) to a Athlon 64. If that is Socket 939, obviously you have some PC1600 256MB of RAM, as that is the only way it would be beat, aside from the fact that you are a complete MOR to the ON. BTW: You have used 3 PC's...congrats, that says nothing for a PROCESSOR, I can't even count how many different Processors and PC's I have used on all the keys on the keyboard x my CPU frequency (which happens to be 2585MHz). I don't judge biasedly about anything, I have used almost every processor you can dream of from Intel and AMD (excluding Pre-486 Era) and I have determined the Athlon 64 is better than the Pentium 4, not because I am a fanboy, which sir, I guarantee you I am not.

My father is Manager for BC lotteries in the Tech department, worked for IBM in the 70's and worked for the american government setting up radar towers during the cold war to detect Russian nukes, he has over 20 years of computer experience then me and worked with computers withing thoes 20 years and counting. And ive only been a computer fan for 4 years, and let me tell you, I know more then he does and his university digree about computers and how to set them up. I was there and set up his computer, I did it all for my family, also i do free services and put together computers for others, I also suggest to them what components to get and they never been happier, Ive gone with both AMD and Intel depending on there budget and what they want to use it for. And let me tell you, both processors done great for all the people. If you're both getting over 30fps, with the cards you have, that means you have sh!t for gaming quality, it's called Faster CPU = Ability to increase game quality w/o losing performance, or has that fact evaded you as well? Don't say "We only play sh!t games so it doesn't matter" because there are thousands of people who play real games who care about eye candy performance.

I did a test with my friends, and I will do it again and I will get my friends to film it this time, we will both play the same games on different processors on same setups. We will prove to you that you cannot see beyound 30fps and you will never notice a difference. I played CSS side by side with my friend with his computer. We messured the FPS and I did go above him, my Max FPS was a lot more then his, around 30fps more. But He nor I droped below 30 FPS. And let me tell you, in every occation of the game, we never once seen a difference when im running at 70fps and he is running at 40fps. I never once noticed the difference. And neither did he or anyone else in the room. So prove to me otherwise that you can see beyound 30fps. Actualy go to www.ncix.com and ask on there forums about this, ask them this question: If the Intel processor runs at 36 fps and the AMD one runs at 40 fps, will I notice a difference, they will say no. Ask them the same question but change the 40fps to 50 fps, and they will again say no, because it was them that taught me and my physics, biology and chemesty teacher said same things. I trust them and there University digrees then whatever internet digree you got.

Oh and its not the CPU the games rely on, it relys on the GPU to distinguish the renderings, its only the CPU that helps the GPU, and only to like 5% of the game itself. The only real difference the 3000+ will have against a 3.0ghz intel in anything is that it may be able to handle the newer cards better, thats about it, otherwise, it will produce same smooth frames as an AMD equivelent.

2) Comparing a 3FPS difference is retarded, I am talking about comparing 50-60 to 30, and if you don't notice a difference, you have sh!tty vision. I am not saying it will be Quadruple-F*ck-Orgasmic difference, but it is noticable in gameplay.

2) Try playing a game with a 6800GT, and comparing a 1.8GHz P4 to a 2.8GHz P4, if you don't see a dramatic difference, again, you have something wrong with you.

Hey kid, hate to tell you, but your biology is a bit off. The human eye can in fact see above 30 frames per second. Or maybe this one will work for you. You don't notice the difference so much as the imagery seems smoother. And there have been numerous tests done to prove the point.

You are way over simplifying things and making yourslef look a bit foolish by trying to solve the issue by comparing performance in video games via frames per second. Most people don't play games, and they are a lot more concerned with overall performance than with how a game runs. That may be all that matters to a younger kid like you, but most people actually like doing productive work on their PC's as well.

Before you get started, notice I said nothing about which processor is better, becuase that depends on your situation and needs.

Well, I almost hate to burst your bubble, but the reason your friend gets better frames than you is because he has a better graphics card, It really has little or nothing to do with the CPU.

Why don't you try swapping cards for a few hours one day? You will see that cards have a lot more to do with FPS than CPU's do.
