Well basically its a true quad core. Instead of like a Core 2 Quad, which is 2 dual cores in one chip, but a Core i5 7xx is a true quad core design. Sure it doesn't have HT, but hey... its cheaper =]
Anyway, you should really consider the i5 750, cause its intel's best gaming value processor, and it's great for any other job.
They all perform very good, but if you want an i5 get the 750, cause the new Clarkdale i5's are dual cores on 32nm, and one gpu in 45nm on the same chip. ( that integrated gpu won't do much of anything )
Yeah. 6 months. The rumpus has long died down
The rumpus was because it performed well and was cheaper than the i7. Basically an i7 without hyperthreading.
The 7xx series are quads and the 6xx series are duals.
