Is Badcompany 2 multiplayer any good?

Thanks Jay! I think I'd go the route you're stating. I have COD:MW2 which isn't bad and I like how it integrates with Steam so I don't have to have the disk in the drive. And, since it's tied to my Steam account, I don't have to worry about install limits and machines. Sounds like BF:BC2 gives me a couple of options that I can take.

Also, does BF:BC2 have dedicated servers? I know that the PC version of COD:MW2 doesn't and that sucks.

You can also buy BC2 through Steam which is what my buddy did. However, it probably isn't $40 😛

BF:BC2 has LOTS of Dedicated servers! I have only experience lag once unlike MW2, and I only have a 1MB cable connection. I do find myself filtering the server list so that I only play on servers with Punkbuster enabled. And it works to. A message will flash on your screen says "Joe Hacker has been banned for Aimbot" or something similar.

Cool. Once I feel comfortable enough on how to play, I guess I'll be joining the ranks of many others playing online! Can't wait!

I haven't even played the single player yet. I heard it was ok but not that great. I jumped right into multiplayer. The best thing to do is just get a server with a few people on it and explore the weapons and gadgets you have. This way you don't get blaster off the bat. That is what I did before jumping into the fire.

It goes against my morals to play a game online before I beat the single player. But in this game the multiplayer was fantastic while the
single player was- eh- not worth it.

rocket launcher is overpowered against infantry... the karl gustav with increased explosive damage has a killzone of about 8 metres (5 metre killzone without perk). so easy to get multikills of 3-4.

i've unlocked every class gadget/weapon and karl gustav is by far the most effective. it does more damage than a tank shell.

Yeah... why no sniping? Nothing wrong with that. They fall prey to my knife when I sneak up behind them as they peer through their scopes and i stab them in the back of their skull. haha. The only time I don't like sniping is in Rush when the attacking team is nothing but snipers and you can't get to them because it doesn't let you go past a certain point. But really it's fair game. I get upset the most from the 40mm noob tubers that run around and just tube people.

Which one is the karl gustav? is that the 2nd rocket launcher? the unguided one? I know i've been killed by that alot. I've been using the RPG alot lately and is somewhat effective. I used it last night in squad deathmatch while fighting for the only Bradley in the center of the map. It takes about 3 shots to take it down with increase explosive...ness.

Okay, purchased the game from Best Buy last night (good thing too because it looks like it's not on sale anymore for $39.99). Started the single player campaign, but I want to get into some serious online fragging!

Any good servers that people recommend for noobs like me that don't know a thing about this game?

And fragging you shall have. haha. Just wait until you hear the audio in the game, that is one of the best things in this game. And how you can destroy buildings and hear them starting to give way before the collapse.

There are so many servers, I just go for the ones with low ping. i've notice alot more servers coming online in the last few weeks. At the very beginning they were always full and you tried to just fine an opening. Now you can pick and choose. I usually check all the filter boxes, one reason to make sure the server is ranked and has punkbuster. I would suggest playing through the different types of games. Conquest, Rush, Squad deathmatch, and squad rush. The squad rush is small 4 vs 4 in a smaller rush map. Squad deathmatch is fun 4 vs 4 vs 4 vs 4 and has 1 vehicle (the Bradley assult vehicle) in the middle of that map that people tend to fight for. You can really rain on their parade if you plant C4 on it and wait for it to move. conquest and Rush can be up to 32 people 16 vs 16.

Just make sure if you are assault or medic that you use your ammo or medic boxes. You get mad points for resupplying people, or repairing with the engineer magical auto wrench. I've gotten the ACE aware (best player = most points) and hardly had any kills before because I was a medic and all I did was throw down medic packs and revive TONS of people.

Your "Q" button is what you use to spot people, but you also use it to do other things.
- Point it at a control point and hit Q to send an attack or defend order to your squad
- Point it at a vehicle to ask for a pickup
- Point it at someone with an assault kit requests ammo
- Point it at a medic requests band-aids

^^ The reason theres more servers now is because EA had a temporary ban in place about buying new servers until they got their master server running better. That only ended about a week and a half ago...

Medic is a very powerful class for starters, especially once you get the M60. Assault is very good, provided you know how to use the 203 grenade launcher.

^ That would make sense then.

I used the first LMG for the medic until I unlocked the M60, which is now my choice weapon for that kit. It is very deadly.

I actually don't use the grenade launcher for the Assault all that much unless I see a bunch of people huddled together. I don't want to be a noob tuber and use it as a primary weapon. I do like the AN-94 and M416 though depending on the circumstances. The XM8 is also awesome and you unlock that one pretty quickly.

Competition? what competition is that? I've noticed people get hounded on the chat when all they do is tube and get high kills, that and running around with a rocket launcher. It's funny because if I get a high kill round, no one can say anything. "hey you Mike Rowe, you killed to many people without tubing". Sorry, not trying to bust on you, it does get annoying if that is all someone does. If you use it in conjunction with your weapons it's cool.

I like how some players feel the need to tell other player how to play. Like no noob tube or no camping.
I paid for the game and I am not hacking, if I want to use a knife and run around backwards, why should the other player(s) care.
I paid money for this game not for my enjoyment, but for 12 year old complainer, because I was camping with a sniper rifle.

AH, dude that is my beef with it. You can kill 20 people in one shot but you can hardly take a tank out with one. Just last night I hit the same tank 5 times in a row with the gustav. The stupid engineer was behind it repairing so I never was able to blow it up. It turns out that the RPGs are just about useless for what they were intended for. People will yell at me but instead of a blast radius perk, it should be increased damage to tank perk.

You are going to get raped either way. :) Enjoy! I would say if you are just starting out, make good use out of dead people's kits.

I agree and disagree with you. You are right, play how you want but certain styles keep you from engaging in the teamwork that is needed to get an objective complete. At that point, you aren't a good team member so you might as well join a different game.

The classic example is the attacking sniper in rush mode that camps in the back. Sitting back and sniping the entire game when your team has to go in and arm the bomb is pretty lame.

^ BF:BC2 is a team-oriented game in most respects. When you go off and decide to do your own thing, you put your team at risk, just like you would in real life.

If just basic fragging is what you want, then you need to go to a different game or else, go to a server that promotes/allows the type of gaming you want. Most people that play BF:BC2 want to do this as a team.

I would never complain about camping because if you are a sniper.... that is what you do. Even with a shotgun in the weeds. whatever. It does get frustrating when all people do is noob tube you over and over. Not saying how to play, I'm just saying it's lame.

THAT! is very good advise.

I agree to a point. However, me and some buddies play and usually one person is a sniper and it provides pretty good cover around the M-coms. Some of those Mcoms can get pretty blown up with smoke and such and while they are busy looking for your teammates you can pick them off. But I know what you are saying about sitting back and sniping the whole game and not being a team player. The least they can do is join their own squad and not take a spot in someone elses.

Yeah I agree. It isn't like sniping is evil no matter what. If they stay in communication with the squad and spot people and keep the area clear around them that would be awesome. It usually doesn't happen though.

It is just like any other kit though...there is a way to use it to benefit the team and there is a way to use it where you are just the solo @hole. Medics/assults get me PO too because usually I have to chase them down through half the map before they toss a med pack or an ammo box out.

This is why I have been enjoying playing with the clan. We are all on the mic and play the kits to best benefit the squad. To me that is how you need to play any battlefield game to get the most fun out of it.
