Question is cpu broken? tried putting coffe lake in Z270 motherboard.

so i stupidly put a a i5 9600k in a Z270 motherboard, same socket diffrent chipset. have the cpu taken any damage from this?

Damaged? Doubtful sense there have been people who have gotten coffee lake CPUs to work in 270 boards. But since the CPU isn't supported anything is possible, without trying the 9600K in a correct motherboard it impossible to answer
