Is possible to kill a GPU with the stock BIOS? I have a GTX 960 and I was wondering if its safe to max the voltage slider, which is limited to +100mV?

Solution
Yeah, go for it. You're not going to damage anything assuming you keep an eye on temperatures over time. Maxwell and overclocking is like milk and cookies. You can't go wrong.
Assuming the card is functioning properly, there are built in failsafes to prevent destroying a GPU with default firmware. You basically can't kill it. You can make it very unstable, but short term fiddling with voltage and temperatures almost never results in damage.

Out of curiosity, which OCing software are you using? Have you started first bumping the core clock and voltage in smaller increments for stability's sake first?

I'm using MSI Afterburner. The card is already overclocked, and it boosts to 1513Mhz with a 25mV voltage increase, but I want to push it higher and that seems to cause instability, so I'm assuming I need more voltage.

24/7 number crunching on a laptop GPU for years nearly 24/7 and it hasn't died yet, at 85 degrees celsius and above. They are pretty tough. Significant voltage boosting in combination with high temperatures is what will cut down it's lifetime.

Thanks guys for the help! I really love the community here 😀. Anyways turns out I can't really go much higher due to Gigabyte's 108% power limit the card throttles :/
