Asrock B450M Steel Legend - is it worth adding another M.2 NVMe SSD via a PCIEe-to-M.2 NVMe adapter ?

I'm asking for a friend who has the ASRock B450M Pro-4 F, but also for myself because both motherboards although they have a second M.2 slot it only supports SATA speeds.

So I'm looking to add another NVMe SSD if the theory is correct, but I don't know if the PCIe-to-M.2 NVMe adapters perform as well as advertised.

Has anyone used one of those adapters to advise me ?

Thanks in advance!

I have 2 adapters from PCIe x16, one has 1 NVME and another 2. There's not much to those adapters, basically just different contact and socket, NVMe drives are just PCIe devices, there's not any type of signal conversion or need for BIOS to recognize them. All adapters work same just some include heat sink. Second PCIe x16 on that MB is version v2.0 so any NVME drive will work at half it's rated speed but even that is much faster than SATA in any shape.
"Is it worth it?" Well for me it was, first it's much faster than 2.5 SATA SSDs and secondly it doesn't require any cables and there's no appreciable price difference.

Thanks for your reply, that's good to know! Can you please send me the link of the one you have?
