hey guys i'm going to buy a computer soon and i wonder if GT 220 is good for gaming...

the computers specs is:

Intel Dual core E5200
2,5 GHz
4gb ram
Geforce GT220 (1024 mb)
windows vista 64-bit

good or bad?

What games: well games like cod4 or crysis

what res: dont know yet going to buy a new moniter soon

What size moniter: read the above text

No, dont buy GT220. Even 4670 is faster, and in one month there will be Radeon 5500-5600 series with double performance for the same price, its no brainier really.

wow so you are telling me that the card sucks... but i've seen on youtube that it can handle games like cod4 or gta 4 how's that come?

did u read the link ?
did u see how far down the chart that card was rated
what res where these tech specialists on you-tube playing it on? and was the aa on? was all the special effects on?

your question ........is the GT 220 *good* for gaming...

my answer NO
ps what about new games coming out on the market soon will you play those?
... not on that card

What videos? (I'm starting to hate these "but I saw on youtube...) I'm not sure what the GT220 is really. If the GTS 250 is the 9800GTX, drop the s, go down another 30 points, I'm guessing the 9500GT? Without knowing what size monitor your looking it, its hard to guess. If your looking at a 19" monitor, the 4670/9600GSO would be ok. Crysis would be a stretch, but most everything else should be ok. If your looking at 22" resolutions, I'd look for the 9800GT/3870 minimum. I game at 22" with a 9600GSO, but TF2 isn't very demanding.

on sirkillalot's link, it was under the 9500GS. Which is half as fast as an HD 4670... so.... Crysis on low at 800x600 at 22FPS.

No, the GT 220 is not a good card for gaming, it's terrible. My X800XT beats it by a lot....and I got that a long time ago.

GT220 is a rebranded 9500GT?

In short, no it is NOT good for gaming. Get yourself a ATI 4670 or 9600GSO at the minimum for decent gaming.

Even better are cards such as:
Nvidia: 9600GT, 8800GT/9800GT, 8800GTS, 9800GTX/GTX+/GTS250, GTX260, GTX275, etc

ATI: 4830, 4770, 4850, 4870, 4850x2, 4890, etc

What about... since I am getting a gaming rig from Dell... they offer GTS 240 (which I think is now GTS 250, which in turn is a rebranded 9800GT). Would that be good enough? I don't play to max out resolutions or anything, I just want acceptable framerates for FPS games. And I'm gonna load up my rig with a Quad CPU and 4 Gigs of RAM.

I want to buy the gt 220 S WELL but iwanna know what games can it play
Cod1 cod 2 cod 3 medal of honor battlefields crossfire

flyff because it can play those i hope so im gonna buy :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) it

Go look up those games and use the 9500GS as the card. NOT the 9500GT, thats a better card. The card is junk for most resolutions, should have the early CoD games ok. Not sure about the other ones.

erm hes wrong i have it in my new dell vostro and it handles bioshock and grid better than a ps3 or a xbox does so , don't listen to them get the gt220

I too have recently purchased the 1024MB nVidia GeForce GT220 for a desktop with a 20inch hd monitor. i will be planning on playing World of Warcraft which in my own perspective i cant see as having as big graphics as crysis cod4 etc. would show. so my question is ive been hearing alot of bad things about this card but would it support World of Warcraft on a high resolution 20inch monitor?

I was under the impression that a 360 was equal to a 7900GTX, or something like that.

The PS3 has the 7900 in it. The 360 has the "xenos" GPU, which isn't like anything. Its similar to the x1900/1950 series, but like modern GPUs it uses unified shaders. Unlike modern GPUs, it can't run DX10 code.

Yes, the GT220 can play games. Seeing as its weaker then the 4670, this makes it to weak in my opinion. If you want to do PC gaming, you need at least the 4670, or the good 9600GSO. (assuming we are talking about 1680x1050, if your at 1440x900 or lower, obviously lower cards are ok.) Sure you can use the GT220, but you'll have to turn effects down/off, not use AA, suffer frame lulls, etc.
