I'm looking to register a domain (example: www.mywebsite.com) and create an email address that uses that domain name (myemailaddress@mywebsite.com). However, I'm getting vague information about what email services are generally included with domain registration. Namescheap.com only provides "mail forwarding" (sending email sent to myemailaddress@mywebsite.com to another email address) but requires you to pay an additional fee to send out-going emails from the domain's email address. Many other registrars seem unclear or whether they provide incoming and outgoing email support.
Is only providing email forwarding the industry standard or is Namescheap.com an exception? Do most registrars allow both incoming and outgoing mail? I'm assuming this could done through either your own email server or a 3rd party email provider like Gmail (likely through SMTP)?
Thanks.
