Hi Everybody,

I need to get my wife a new computer because her computer is just having too many issues. I found a computer a staples priced for $330K.. It's going on sale for $275 on presidents day. She will only be using this for browsing the internet, using microsoft office, printing and it will be networked with my main computer. We are Realtors and she will use for basic functions.

Can you please check out this computer and tell me what you think? I don't know anything about Anthem computers. http://www.staples.com/office/supplies/p1__261891_Business_Supplies_10051_SEARCH

Is this computer better than we she is currently using? She has a Gateway pentium 4 with 3.2 ghz w/ hyper threading, 1gb ddr.

I figured for the price I could not build my self for any cheaper since it includes windows vista. My main concern is that I don't want to wait a long time for the applications to open or have the computer operate a ridiculous slow speeds.

Please let me know if you think this pc is decent for my needs.

Thank you!

To be honest, I don't think you'll notice much change in performance between the two computers. Your old computer is a 3.2GHz pentium 4, while this computer is a 2.4 GHz athlon64. For the mundane tasks you've mentioned, the two perform pretty much the same, but in this case, the newer computer does have twice as much ram, and vista is better at launching tasks than XP. I think the new computer will be snappier once loaded, but Vista does have a tendency to peg a single core CPU at times, especially at start up. It is a shame you don't have the time to fix your wife's old computer. It's got plenty of life left in it.
