I would like to know if these specs can be good for a gaming pc. I am really new at this and i want to build a good gaming pc that is preferably better than the ps4 specs and will last me a few years without upgrading anything. Also, the link is here:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7782889&sku=B69-1560

I am grateful for any additional info you guys could provide, for ex, how much will a pc cost minimally that will beat the ps4 or xbox720 specs and last about 1-3 years more with any new games on at least medium-high settings.

Solution
Hey, you could always start. 2 months ago, I didn't know a thing about computers. Now I'm a forum regular here. Buying my own build in 3 weeks, so I had to tweak to perfectness. Anyway, here's the final build, nothing changed.

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($189.99 @ Microcenter)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($134.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: Patriot Gamer 2 Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($47.98 @ NCIX US)
Storage: Samsung...
As I've already said, for gaming the 8350 and the 3570k both have there advantages. Right now the i5 get a few more FPS and the FX has 8 cores so it's better for future gaming and multitasking. The 8350+mobo is cheaper than the 3570k+mobo.

You guys really are confusing me. I am getting my priorities set now. I am using the system primarily for gaming. A single threaded application, so intel. School apps, maybe AMD is better. I DONT KNOW. I have no experience, and i seem to not even get my own nneds and wants separated. Is it better if i use Intel i5 4670k or AMD FX8350? I can switch from the 780 to 770. As:

ssddx: for $230 more in total cost for the gtx780 over the gtx770 is it really worthwhile for only 5-10% increase? to put it another way.. it looks like the gtx780 is giving you about 5-10 more frames per second over the gtx770. for each extra frame per second of performance you would be paying $23-46 extra. compare this to the $9 you are paying per fps for a gtx770 (46fps at worst in crysis 3, cost of $420. divide cost by fps for value) if you want a comparision of this to the gtx780 you would be paying $13 per fps.

Now, should i take a 780 with 8350 or 770 with haswell?

I dont know any school apps that would max i3 and am far from knowing any to do that i5.

780 is more like Titan LE (in this case lame edition) and 770 is 680. It is somewhere worth to buy 780 and for sure worth to buy 770.

I say i5 HW/IB and 780/770. Ill try to make one build just say if you want overclocking.

The 8350 is 4 MODULES not cores. Essentially it has 4 cores. And PC games will not be optimized to 8 cores, 4 cores is becoming ideal now. Comparing console specs to PC specs is ridiculous. Consoles tend to optimize their hardware much better than PC, parallel particle processing, and other kinds of tweaks that allow them to run much more efficiently. The PS3 right now is 8 core, so I don't know what you're trying to say there about "future-proofing". And although the i5 is around $20 more expensive, it is worth every penny.

As for the GPU, I would get the 770 and buy a good SSD with the saved money. As you said, there's only small performance decrease, not enough to change what your eyes see.

Note that there is OS in so its about the same as sams.
Also you dont need cooler yet beacuse I doubt you will be overclocking at first.

Its basicly some dual cores binned into 8 core thing.
PS3 is far from 8 cores but you might think of PS4 and its 1.9 GHz AMD cores...
What his eyes can see now. There are more demanding games in the future where he will see. Also he would see more than getting SSD instead 780.

@tadej petric You're really recommending he sticks with the Intel Stock cooler? Ha. The 212 EVO is worth every penny.

@ballerslife I'm not comparing the specs of consoles and PC's, all I'm saying is that games are now being optimised for more cores.

@spyguy001 8350 and a 780 will be faster than 4670k and 770, although both will be insanely fast.

Sorry, tadej petric, that build is really out of budget. If you could do something or change somethings in there, that could be fine, but now, it is simply too overbudget. You have to remember that i have to include all the peripherals as well.

That seems like a good build, but it still does not include any peripherals in it. All the other builds have good costs but they suddenly skyrocket when the peripherals are added so i am hesistant doing so. Ah well, ill do that now.

How does that compare with this?

That motherboard you had was overkill, as was the PSU. If you've must have Haswell and GTX 7** then this is what I'd get.

Wouldnt a black hdd be better? Other than that, i have no complaints. That seems like a good system, just researching the parts later to get some info on them. How about fitting an ssd in there? I will also think about changing the peripherals.

Grab an SSD if you want, I wouldn't, the blacks are a bit overpriced for me but that's just my opinion. I only put those peripherals in because they're good and they're about the average price.

Yeah, i have room for the change in peripherals to get a mx brown rosewill. or the bitfenix shinobi xl. maybe an ssd. I have not tried ssds but if they do even half of what they are advertised to do, they are definitely worth it.
