Right everyone, tell me if I am just being silly here, but is the advert for this monitor missleading?
http://www.lg.com/uk/it-products/monitors/LG-3d-monitor-W2363D.jsp
I took the specifications to mean the monitor outputs in full hd at 120hz while in 3d mode
The company it is bought from have just told me that it is not and that I have completely misread
the specs.
They also told me that the reason I was having issues using hdmi is because the monitor is not
compatible with hdmi from a pc (even though they advised me I would need it!)
I just kind of feel I have been conned a little bit thats all.

I'm confused a bit with what they said. A "Monitor" is for a computer, a "TV" is not. That's listed as a "Monitor" so how can they say it's not compatible with a PC?

You did not misread anything, quote them the specs and ask them to explain where the issues are.

The issue may be that your video card can't run at 120hz at full resolution though. If you have any issues, may help if you posted them.

I have a sapphire 6970, im fairly sure that it can output full hd.
They have now told me that the monitor cannot output in full hd 3d.
They say that nowhere does it say that the monitor outputs fulll hd and they actually had the audacity to try and say no monitors output in full hd for 3d! they have said that I missread the specs and it does not say what I am saying.
I connected it up using a hdmi 1.4 lead and the screen was letterboxed
it works fine with dvi but I cannot get it to output to 120hz.
I can set it to 75hz with CCC but anything higher than this makes text unreadable.

for 120hz computers typically use a two dvi cables to connect to a 120hz monitor. i've heard that not all 120hz screens play nice with pcs except pc monitors. pretty much all 60hz screens work fine.

full hd = 1080p. might as well state that for no confusion.

there ARE monitors which can display 3d at 1080p. i've seen them firsthand. if i'm not mistaken they alternate frames so that the actual content is displayed at half the total refresh rate. however, i'm not sure what the signal being broadcast through the hdmi cable is. 60hz? 120hz? someone needs to do some research on this.

so yes they could be telling you the truth if they say its a 120hz monitor with 3d mode. however if its alternating like i'm thinking then its also going to be comparable to a non 3d 60hz signal. confusing, yes. outright lie, no.

tech support typically has no clue. for detailed information you are often better off looking for the answer on your own.

....

with all that said...

if you want zero issues get a 120hz computer monitor. that will work with a dual dvi. my guess would be that you can run 1080p alternating frame 3d so it would appear like 60hz but in actuality be 120hz.

if after research you find a fix, i'll have to keep it in mind for others who post similar questions.

The thing is this is all new to me, so it is really really confusing.
I was told by one of their advisors that to output at 120hz I would need a hdmi 1.4 cable, Then by another advisor that hdmi is not supported between the monitor and the pc.
I just want to have relatively hastle free 3d, I think I should just change to nvidia to be honest. But I love my 6970 to much 🙁
