IF your primary SSD is a 2.5" SATA type SSD, and the M.2 slot on your board is empty, then yes, it will work.

If your current SSD is an M.2 SSD, then no, it won't work (Because your board only has ONE M.2 slot) and you'll need to get a 2.5" SATA SSD and connect it to one of the SATA headers.

would I have to install windows on it? or is that only when it's your primary drive?
 
Exactly what they said. Just install it, give it a drive letter in disc management and then put your games on it.

Actually, in some cases you MIGHT have to enable some M.2/NVME settings in the BIOS in order for Windows to see it but not usually.
